Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 153 ? Lions Ready For Rookie Minicamp. 86 minutes.
In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case are joined again by Jeff ?The Riz? Risdon who should really just be considered another host at this point. Anyway, having done our post draft review, it?s time to talk about some of the roster tweaks that are going on ahead of the Rookie minicamp which begins this weekend. The Riz also weighs in on the likelihood of the Lions bringing in Johnathan Hankins as a defensive tackle for the Lions. We talk a bit about Dan Orlovsky?s love affair with Matthew Stafford, how we became Lions fans, and Case takes us Around the Division again.
The show screams off the line when the Riz weighs in on his thoughts around the Lions signing Johnathan Hankins to the roster. Chris decides to test Riz at various points to make sure he really believes what he said. Spoiler alert: he does. We then walk through the compensatory picks, and what the Lions might get as well as what situations might affect their haul. Good information here for folks that like to go a little deeper into the draft.

We take a few moments to talk about Dan Orlovsky and his take on Matthew Stafford from this morning?s episode of Good Morning Football. Chris loses it a little bit when the GMFB guys decide to play pretend and are disingenuous in the kickoff to the segment. He?s likely a little too sensitive about this stuff, but he?ll tell you he isn?t wrong! Orlovsky does his standard great job of breaking down Matthew Stafford?s game and why he is the #1 clutch quarterback in the NFL. Hometown favorite, Nate Burleson weighs in with some of his experience playing with Stafford and agrees wholeheartedly with Dan Orlovsky.
We discuss a great exchange that Detroit Lions Podcast writer Kurt Carriveau started on Twitter in which he asked how folks became Lions fans. Since there were so many great stories we decide to spend a little time sharing our own. We?re looking to hear yours, give us a call and we?ll share them on an upcoming show.
Lastly, Case takes us Around The Division, where we analyze the draft results of our division rivals and discuss what it means for them, their plans, and of course, the Lions. Also, we have a brand new Around The Division theme ? this time from I Prevail! A great band, and it comes from a song that I am absolutely loving right now (Come and Get it). Good info, and great detail in the Around The Division segment this week.
