Detroit Lions - Team Notes

#Saints QB Drew Brees is the only quarterback with more passing yards than #Lions QB Matthew Stafford since 2011.

Detroit Lions Breakdown Podcast Episode #62: Know Your Enemy Part 1. 53 minutes.

The countdown to training camp would have begun, but the Lions have not yet announced when camp will begin. Even with this lack of information Erik and Joe still cover all the Lions news that has surfaced over the last week.

Coaches Jim Bob Cooter, Jeff Davidson, Paul Pasqualoni, Al Golden and Joe Marciano all used a bunch of generic language when it comes to what exciting new things we will see next year.

Erik and Joe will spend the coming few weeks examining the offseason moves of the Lions rivals in the NFC North. This week they start with the defending division champ and NFC runner-up Minnesota Vikings.

The podcast mailbag centers around who stands to benefit most from the coaching changes and who might find themselves on the chopping block by the end of camp.

Erik?s latest article has been published, and it covers his most updated roster stack.

A special thanks to 5-star reviewers Logan Lamorandier, Gillen H2O and Jimmy Thom 2003.

Sam Martin is reportedly crushing it at OTAs.
Don?t worry, Sam Martin is himself again.
Ever since suffering an off-field injury last offseason, Detroit Lions punter Sam Martin hasn?t been the same. He had a very disappointing 2017 season, but according to Lions special teams coordinator Joe Marciano, he?s finally looking like his old self. ?He?s crushing the ball,? Marciano told MLive.com. ?He?s hitting five-ohs out of the wazoo.?

Speaking of special teams, Marciano pulled no punches this week when talking about the team?s kickoff return game last year, which ranked last in the league in yards per return:
Asked #Lions special teams coordinator Joe Marciano about the new kickoff rules. Got this:
"We'll be a better return team because they eliminated the wedge. We were the worst wedge in the league last year, so I'm glad. Our wedges were terrible, and we spent the most time on it."
