Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 156 ? Lions 2018 Minicamp Coverage. 70 minutes.

In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is without Case, but still joined by Jeff ?The Riz? Risdon and they break down all of the latest and greatest Lions news. They start out with two big announcements, get into some OTA news, practice schedules (including what should be the dates for Training Camp), a review of a Matthew Stafford interview, and we weigh in on Detroit?s resident knucklehead at the Freep (again).

We start with two huge announcements out of the gate, first: our next show will feature an audio AMA with Billy Sims! Billy will be joining us to talk the past, present, and future of the Lions as well as dive in on some of the details of his amazing career. Most of this interview will be driven by your question submissions. Check in to the subreddit on or about June 16th when we put the official AMA question thread up. Submit your questions, upvote the ones you want to see asked, and we will ask the most upvoted questions in the thread. This presents an excellent opportunity for the community to ask the questions they always wanted answered from a Lions great.

The second announcement is around the Riz?s new gig, one directly related to the Detroit Lions. He has been named as the Managing Editor for the USA Today?s wire site for the Detroit Lions ? the Lions Wire. It?s an excellent opportunity for Jeff to step into a role related to the team that he loves and has been covering with us for 3 years now. Big congrats to Jeff, now we get an even better opportunity to experience his work directly related to the team we love.

In later portions of the show we discuss the embarrassment of riches that the Lions appear to have in the secondary, the terrible injury to Nick Bawden, the play and guest coaching at LB, and how nice our wide receivers have looked so far. With all the good, we have to remind everyone that everyone looks good in shorts, but things are definitely off to a good start.

We catch what appears to be a slip of profanity on the NFL Network by Matthew Stafford (spoiler: it wasn?t), and decide that we?ll have fun with it anyway. This one might ride for a good long time?

We announce the Detroit Lions Podcast meme contest winner for the Under Armour $75 gift card . Lots of great entries, but there can only be one winner. Thank you everyone for playing!

Lastly we have to delve back into the sad state of journalism as a result of the stupid Freep article about Matt Patricia ?losing? the players. The article was built around a single quote and a boatload of conjecture, it is an abysmal attempt at generating clicks while at the same time eroding the last few ounces of credibility that a 190 year old failing entity still holds. Don?t feed them clicks ? use a good archive site if you find yourself there and want to share something. This will deprive them of the clicks that they so desperately desire.
