Detroit Lions - Team Notes

T.J. Lang, Jace Billingsley and Toby Johnson all at practice for the Lions but not participating during Monday's preseason practice.

Matthew Stafford asked if his wife, Kelly, has revealed his third child's name yet. She hasn't, so he said he'll let her do that. Said everybody is home, happy and healthy. They had their third child on Thursday.

Matthew Stafford on if quarterbacks are viewed more than other players by playoff success or lack thereof: "100 percent." Wouldn't say whether he feels it's fair or not, but recognizes that it is how people view it.

Theo Riddick, T.J. Lang, Jace Billingsley and Toby Johnson not participating in Lions practice Tuesday. Riddick is the only new addition to that list from Monday.

2018 NFL Predictions: Team-by-Team Records, Playoffs and Super Bowl LIII Champion.

SI.com predicts 10-6 season, but no playoffs, for the Detroit Lions.
Andy Benoit thinks highly of the Lions... just not too highly.
SI.com?s Andy Benoit made his official 2018 NFL predictions and is one of the few that has the Detroit Lions with a winning record. Unfortunately, his 10-6 prediction wasn?t good enough for a playoff spot in the NFC, and it landed them third in the division. Check out his entire NFL predictions, including his Super Bowl LIII winner.

Speaking of Benoit, he posted several interesting Lions observations from his Twitter account on Tuesday. Here?s just a taste:
If rookie LG Frank Ragnow develops quickly, #Lions will have one of the NFL?s top 5 offensive lines.
11:49 AM - Aug 21, 2018

Theo Riddick and Golden Tate give #Lions the most challenging underneath receiving duos in football. Rival would be Chris Thompson and Jamison Crowder in Washington.
11:32 AM - Aug 21, 2018

Darius Slay is among the small handful of corners who can travel with quick No. 1 WRs (Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham types).

Detroit Lions Podcast 165 ? Lions Two Minute Drill ft Dan Orlovsky. 105 minutes.

Detroit Lions Podcast Show Notes:
In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined again by a familiar face in Case! Yep, Case is back and ready to rock while the Riz takes some time with the family this week. We?re also joined by Dan Orlovsky to break down what happens ?Inside The Helmet? during the two minute drill. There?s a lot to cover with Case?s return, so let?s get into it?

After celebrating the glorious return of Case, we get right into it by looking into the Lions game against the New York Giants. Is it time to worry? Panic? Full freak out? We talk about areas of concern and what to watch for going forward. Spoiler: it?s not time to panic.

Lions Player Breakdown:
We take some time to dive into the play we saw from Jarrad Davis and Glover Quinn in particular. What should we be thinking about what we saw and what does the future look like for these guys and their roles on the team? Opinions are all over the place, particularly the extremes, on these guys. The Detroit Lions Podcast is here to provide real context for you and help you to level set. time to look at things through a realistic lens.

Matthew Stafford has made headlines with the birth of his new child (Kelly may have had a role here). We congratulate the family and talk about what he?s said about risking missing a game with more children. That?s really the most important thing, right? Right?

Then we go in depth on Golden Tate, Ameer Abdullah, and Theo Riddick. There?s a lot to talk about here from contracts to where they might play and what it means for the team. It?s worth the time to listen to the analysis here which will help you understand why certain players are where they are on the depth chart (and/or trading block).

Dan Orlovsky Breaks Down The Two Minute Offense:
Lastly, we have a Detroit Lions Podcast special, another great interview with Dan Orlovsky. Dan spends time talking about his broadcast career advancement and the Lions preseason work. Most importantly, he goes deep in breaking down the 2 minute drill from inside the Quarterback?s helmet. What?s he?s hearing, what he?s thinking, and what he?s looking for. Dan gives us a view into the two minute drill that most of us have never had before ? from Inside the Helmet. If you are interested in offensive football, you don?t want to miss this.
