Jacked Zenner rejoins Lions after breaking two bones in back.

New (old) Lions RB Zach Zenner spent his time away from the franchise working out and starting to study for his MCATs in the Detroit area. He'll have to retake the exam this offseason (currently thinking in March) in order to eventually go to the Sanford School of Medicine in South Dakota. By taking it now, it'll buy him another three-to-five years before he would have to take it again. So what happened to him in the final preseason game? He fractured the right L2 & L3 transverse process ("they snapped in half," Zenner said), which took about six weeks to recover from. That they were not load-bearing bones helped but certain movements became difficult. "It wasn't as bad as it sounds," Zenner said.
"If you're going to break your back, that's what you want to do." Now that he's back, Zenner said MCAT studying is on hold until the end of Detroit's season, when he'll take a week off and study again until it's time for him to take the test.
