It's the Kenny Golladay Experience in Buffalo, at least during the first half. The second-year receiver already has a career-high 115 yards and has done it on acrobatic catches, including one where he ripped a sure interception out of Bills cornerback Levi Wallace's hands. A re-emergence of Golladay is exactly what the Lions needed to help spark an otherwise mediocre offense. Golladay is basically the only playmaker Detroit has left offensively and against the Bills the Lions found a way to use him in a must-win game.

Matt Prater's miss of a 48-yard field goal in the fourth quarter against the Bills was his first miss of a field goal in the fourth quarter or overtime of a game since Week 15 of the 2015 season, when he missed a 38-yard fourth-quarter field goal against the New Orleans Saints. That's a streak of almost three years snapped.

The Detroit Lions will have their first losing record since the 2015 season and (barring an unlikely collapse in the fourth quarter by Minnesota) will be eliminated from playoff contention by the end of the day after a 14-13 loss to Buffalo. The loss happened because of issues familiar (lack of a creative offense and a lack of playmakers) and unfamiliar (Matt Prater missing his first fourth quarter field goal in three years -- which would have given Detroit a 16-14 lead). All in all, though, it gives a somewhat sensible essential end to Detroit's season. All year, the Lions had dealt with inconsistency and that showed again against the Bills.

Matt Prater on his missed field goal in the fourth quarter -- his first fourth quarter miss in three seasons: "It's kind of tough to say. Pregame wind was going right to left in that direction so I played it right and then I pushed it a little bit so it multiplied and it didn't come back at all for me. So looking back I wish I would have played it down the middle instead of a little bit right. I did mishit it a little bit but it's part of the game. Frustrating but you want to come through and make plays for your team when you get the opportunity and it's frustrating not to."
