Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Larry Warford - G - Lions
Lions RG Larry Warford's starting job will be "on a short leash" this season.
The 65th overall pick in the 2013 draft, Warford looked like a future All Pro his first two seasons before enduring an injury-riddled third campaign. Now entering his contract year, Warford has a lot at stake. He's 25 years old (in June) with dominant drive-blocking potential and will get paid handsomely if his season goes well. Journeyman Geoff Schwartz will push Warford in camp.

Taylor Decker - T - Lions
Lions first-round pick Taylor Decker is expected to play right tackle as a rookie.
Decker made all of his 42 college starts at left tackle, but his nasty playing demeanor and sub-34-inch arms may make him a better NFL fit on the right side. From left to right, Detroit's O-Line projects as LT Riley Reiff, LG Laken Tomlinson, C Travis Swanson/Graham Glasgow, RT Larry Warford, and RT Decker. It could be a passable unit if Swanson or Glasgow shores up center.

Golden Tate - WR - Lions
Tim Twentyman of the Lions' website expects Golden Tate to lead the team in receptions this season.
Twentyman predicts Tate will "edge out" Marvin Jones for the reception lead, but believes Jones will be "right there." Tate has led Detroit in catches in back-to-back seasons (99, 90). He could push for 100-plus in the post-Megatron era. Based on current ADP, however, Tate's expected leap is already being baked into his draft-day cost. He's often going in the fourth and even third round, while Jones commonly lasts until the seventh and eighth.
