Detroit Lions - Team Notes

NFL Network announced the No. 61-70 in their Top 100 Players of 2016 list on Wednesday night. Again, no Detroit Lions players were on the list. With the bottom 40 players now announced, the Lions remain shut out from the list entirely.

At Lions OTAs, first round pick Taylor Decker got a lot of work at LT while last year's LT, Riley Reiff, was primarily at right tackle. Also, Travis Swanson worked as first team center.

Ameer Abdullah, Golden Tate, Eric Ebron, Brandon Pettigrew, Michael Ola, Caraun Reid, Corey Robinson, Dwayne Washington among the players not practicing for the Lions on Thursday. Didn't see Glover Quin do team drills, either.

Lions LB DeAndre Levy participated in individual drills Thursday as well as some team drills, too. He said he's on pace to be ready by training camp to hit and he has no concerns about his body.

Abdullah recovering from surgery on torn labrum.
PFT

Ameer Abdullah underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder in January.
Abdullah originally suffered the injury in December, but he was able to play through it over the final two weeks. He is expected to miss the rest of the offseason program, but he should be ready for training camp. Even though his Week 1 status is not in doubt, this is a poor development for a player trying to establish himself as the clear lead back in Detroit. Theo Riddick, Stevan Ridley and Zach Zenner will pick up extra practice reps while Abdullah is sidelined.

Taylor Decker getting first-team reps at left tackle at Detroit Lions OTAs.
PrideOfDetroit

Lions first-round pick Taylor Decker opened OTAs as the first-team left tackle.
Riley Reiff was expected remain on the left side in the final year of his rookie deal, but he was playing right tackle on Thursday. This is just one offseason practice, but the Lions have been fairly open about their desire to move Reiff to the right side. Decker was not seen as the player who would facilitate that switch by people outside the organization, but it seems Detroit has other ideas.
