Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Ameer Abdullah sat out the offseason recovering from shoulder labrum surgery, and Detroit is depending on the second-year running back to be the team's featured ball carrier.
Considering the Lions' other major backs -- Stevan Ridley and Zach Zenner -- are also coming off injuries, any delay in Abdullah's recovery could spell trouble.
Theo Riddick is healthy, but he's still primarily a pass-catcher. The Lions need a healthy Abdullah to achieve any sort of balance this season; Lions GM Bob Quinn said Abdullah should be ready for the start of training camp. --

Matthew Stafford MVP odds ranked 18th among quarterbacks.
Bovada.lv released their odds for the 2016 NFL MVP and Matthew Stafford is ranked curiously low compared to other quarterbacks in the league. Stafford is listed at 100:1 odds to win the award, while Andrew Luck (12:1), Derek Carr (50:1), Blake Bortles (66:1), Brock Osweiler (66:1) and Matt Ryan (66:1) are all significantly favored. The odds rank Stafford as the 18th-most likely quarterback to win MVP (along with Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, Joe Flacco, Marcus Mariota, Alex Smith and Kirk Cousins).

San Diego's Patrick Robinson (now with the Colts) yielded a league-low 8.9 yards per catch in 2015. Detroit's Nevin Lawson was 2nd at 9.1.
