Detroit Lions - Team Notes

The NFLPA announced Lions player reps today. Glover Quin remains the player rep with Don Carey, Ameer Abdullah and Zach Zenner the alternates.

Free agent Joique Bell worked out for the Lions on Tuesday.
Ameer Abdullah (foot) appears poised to miss Week 3, leaving the Lions a man short at running back.
Bell hasn't been an effective player in four years, but knows the Lions' offense. Were Bell to re-sign, he'd back up Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington.

Coach Jim Caldwell confirmed rookie RB Dwayne Washington's role will expand following Ameer Abdullah's foot injury.
At 6-foot-1, 223, Washington brings a much different element to Detroit's rushing attack than Ameer Abdullah or Theo Riddick.
Washington has six carries for 32 yards and a touchdown in the Lions' first two games. "He was productive obviously on the carries that he had and I think he?s coming along," Caldwell said. "I think without question he?s certainly capable of giving us some unique production in his way because he?s a little different type of back."
Expect Riddick to start against the Packers in Week 3, with Washington handling 8-12 carries off the bench and vulturing any goal-line opportunities.

Pride Of Detroit PODcast: Sky?s not falling... yet. 70 minutes.
We also move on to previewing Green Bay and discussing injuries.

This week on the PODcast:
A lot of drops, a lot of flags and a lot of bad stuff. Final word on Game 2 against the Tennessee Titans. We give the good parts their due credit too.

Injuries are really hurting the Lions now. Who are they going to miss the most: Ameer Abdullah or Ezekiel Ansah?
How do they fix the problems now at linebacker?

A brand new segment called Rage Corner sees Jeremy and Chris tee off on complaints regarding Jim Caldwell, while Ryan picks a bone with a radio host who has been terrorizing his ears.

Wally?s World is back and it features another parable about fantasy football.

In the mailbag, questions about Golden Tate, thoughts on the brand new cheerleaders, deciding whether the run game is for real or not, the arguments for and against s?mores as sandwiches and a really bad punchline.
