Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Jim Caldwell would not say when Travis Swanson suffered his concussion or when his symptoms started to show. He played every snap Sunday against New Orleans.

Jim Caldwell said Asa Jackson is "learning" the system and he isn't going to pick it up in one day. Was signed this week after Quandre Diggs' injury.
Played for Caldwell and Teryl Austin in Baltimore.

Jim Caldwell said Adairius Barnes, who might play nickel for Lions, is very quick and has good break on the ball.
Could end up starting in the slot for Detroit on Sunday.

Lions DC Teryl Austin said they are still figuring out if one guy will be able to replace Quandre Diggs at the nickel or if they mix-and-match based on packages.

Lions DC Teryl Austin said he's ok with opponents getting the ball out quickly because it means the ball isn't going deep. As long as Detroit is tackling well, he's fine with that.

Jim Bob Cooter: Just as fun for me to watch Golden Tate running around as it is for fans. Said it is a flaw on his play calling if he doesn't get him the ball.

Travis Swanson missed practice for the second straight day while dealing with a concussion. Lions coach Jim Caldwell declined to give any information as to when Swanson suffered the concussion but he played every snap Sunday against New Orleans.
Ezekiel Ansah and Theo Riddick returned to practice.
