Detroit Lions notes: Matthew Stafford practices with custom glove; Zenner practices, Swanson does not.
OaklandPress

Zach Zenner, who suffered a concussion on Sunday, was practicing but wearing a red jersey.
Coach Jim Caldwell said he?s going through concussion protocol.
Certainly it?s a positive sign for Zenner that he was on the field wearing a helmet and going through the plays.

DeAndre Levy, who played Sunday after missing 11 games, was back at practice. Caldwell said he survived Sunday and is doing ?OK.?

Jim Caldwell said this week is "some valuable time for us" to get Matthew Stafford ready to play with a glove. Whether it's enough time: "It's all you have. It's gotta be."

Jim Caldwell on Eli Manning: "Any time you win two Super Bowls, that's elite enough."

Jim Caldwell said Matthew Stafford's finger injury is not going to change his prep for the week, even if they end up tinkering with what he's going to do.

Matthew Stafford says his finger feels about the same as Sunday when he injured it. Said if he wears a glove it'll be for functionality. Isn't sure what he'll do yet.

Matthew Stafford said he plans on taking every rep in practice this week and said he told Jim Bob Cooter to just call the game Sunday, don't worry about me.

Matthew Stafford with a glove, kind of, on his right hand. Most of his fingers exposed except the middle one.

Theo Riddick, Travis Swanson and Ezekiel Ansah not practicing for the Lions on Wednesday in open portion of drills.
Zach Zenner was out there but in a red no-contact jersey.

RACE IS HEATING UP IN THE NFC NORTH.
Detroit still has a two-game lead, but Green Bay can get a game back (and the tiebreaker) by beating the Lions in Week 17.
As a result, the Lions' playoff spot is far from assured.

PLAYOFF ODDS SWING HEAVILY AT MEADOWLANDS.
Both the Lions and Giants will see their playoff odds swing by at least 35 percent based on the outcome of Sunday's showdown at MetLife Stadium.

Matthew Stafford injury update: Lions quarterback sporting one-fingered glove at practice.
Beat reporters say he ?looks fine? throwing the ball.
PrideOfDetroit

UPDATE: Former Chargers head doctor, David Chao?who we talked about earlier in the week?thinks this is great news for Stafford: Support on dorsal (back of hand/finger) side.
Allows for grip on ventral (palm) side.#MatthewStafford will play with minimal limitation.
