How does the #Lions special teams rank among the league in the important categories?

Fourth in field-goal percentage (90.9 percent), third in net punting (45.0 yards), fifth in punt return (11.7 yards), ninth in opposing kickoff return (21.0) yards and 17th in kickoff returns (21.9 yards).
Football Outsiders ranks special teams in all areas, based on situation, and the Lions are fourth, behind the Eagles, Chiefs and Rams.

Special teams have played a significant role in Detroit's success this year.

Here's why the schedule could be Matthew Stafford's friend. Jim Caldwell admitted the glove Stafford is wearing to protect the injured finger on his throwing hand is "not a non-issue until he...doesn't have it on anymore."
In other words, it's an issue. But the Lions play indoors this week (at Dallas) and next (home vs Green Bay). Having watched Stafford play outdoors in New York, and Derek Carr play with a similar injury in the cold in Kansas City, it stands to reason Stafford would be more comfortable in better conditions.
If the Lions win the division Stafford may not have to play outdoors again for more than a month.

Next week when the Packers and Lions are playing for the NFC North (which is very likely based on playoff scenarios) you're going to be hearing a lot about this: Green Bay will have 55.5 more hours to prepare than Detroit.
The Packers play this week at 1pm ET on Saturday.
The Lions play at 8:30pm ET on Monday.
