These Lions rookies could take time before they're on the field.

The Lions had plugged many of their holes up front over the past year, but in leaving defensive end and running back largely unaddressed, they appear to have taken more of a long view with this draft. It's what has their draft grades on a national scale looking sub-par, with several picks viewed as reaches for raw talent.

Their class will be a good one if their developmental picks develop as planned. That's what many of them are, more than instant fill-ins on a competing roster.
