Add Vegas to the list of those doubting the Lions.

LeGarrette Blount's still an option for Lions but becoming more expensive.

The former Patriots running back and reigning rushing touchdowns leader is still a free agent, but that status comes with a stipulation now that New England decided to issue him a May 9 tender, ESPN's Field Yates reported Wednesday. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...atriots-issue-rare-9-tender-legarrette-blount

The tender is a rare option teams have for their expiring contracts who remain on the market until the designated date, which was Tuesday this year. In Blount's case, it will mean that he can only play for New England if he's still available by July 22. If he signs elsewhere, the Patriots will receive a compensatory pick through the league formula.

The NFL doesn't appear to have a hard-and-fast rule for determining what the eventual compensatory pick would be for a player when he signs, at least not one that it releases publicly. It's understood that it's based on a floor for the player's market and increases based on playing time and postseason accolades. It would fall somewhere between the third and seventh rounds and would come after the 32 normal selections of the round.

Practices will be closed to the public, and only 10 minutes of the first workout will be open to reporters. Coach Jim Caldwell is also scheduled for a news conference Friday.

In another show of extreme secrecy, Detroit is not expected to so much as release a roster of players participating over the weekend, even during the portion open to media.
