Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Jim Caldwell called the Lions' run game "inconsistent." Asked him why his teams have yet to hit his 4.0 yards per carry mark over a season in his time with Detroit and he didn't really give a reason. Said winning is all he cares about.

Jim Caldwell believes a running game is "a quarterback's best friend." The issue, of course, is the Lions' run game has been poor under Caldwell, including 80.8 yards per game and 3.35 yards per carry.

Mike Zimmer on keeping Matt Prater out of field goal range: "Have to move the goalposts back, I guess." Prater made big field goals against them last year.

Matthew Stafford said Matt Prater is "as clutch as they get" and gave him a bunch of credit for Detroit's come-from-behind wins over the past couple of seasons. Prater is perfect in his career on game-winning or game-tying field goals late in the fourth quarter.
