Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Jim Caldwell said his team needs to start better. Not where they need to be in that particular area. Said "it's all coaching" and it's their job to get them going. Admits they've been "up and down" in that type of area for a while -- not just the 2017 season.

Jim Caldwell: He doesn't waste time lamenting or rehashing opportunities gone by. Said it's not the way he functions.

How's Matthew Stafford? Jim Caldwell: "You can check the report when it comes out Wednesday."

Jim Caldwell on Greg Schiano's situation with Tennessee: Said it's hard and a tough situation for him and his family. Caldwell worked with Schiano at Penn State for a couple of seasons in the early 1990s.

Jim Caldwell: "We can read, we can understand, we can calculate" when it comes to playoff situations, but they keep a narrow focus of what is in front of them. Calls Baltimore "a real challenge."

Have confirmed Tavon Wilson will need surgery on his shoulder and will be placed on injured reserve, according to a source. The Detroit Free Press first reported the surgery. With Wilson out, Miles Killebrew will step up into the starting role in his place.

The Lions have signed S Rolan Milligan and WR Bradley Marquez to the active roster, placed Tavon Wilson on injured reserve and announced OL Joe Dahl is returning to practice off IR. Detroit also signed WR Jace Billingsley and S Stefan McClure to the practice squad.

Dwight Freeney said he was completely surprised by Seattle release: "jaw on the floor."

Ziggy Ansah also spoke today, said he feels "pretty good," and that he's "being dealing with a lot this year." Ansah wouldn't say, though, whether his back and knee injuries were interconnected. He also said he doesn't feel like this is a lost season for him despite the injuries. He has five sacks this season.

Pride Of Detroit Lions PODcast is fed up on the turkey. 80 minutes.
Trash bird. Trash game. Lots of yelling. No sleep.

This week on the PODcast
Jeremy is optimistic. Ryan and I are not.

More fighting. It?s mostly about the front seven and where this team is going.

Even more fighting and yelling.

A discussion about Marvin Jones Jr. truly becoming the feature wide receiver.

Speculation on Ameer Abdullah?s potential with this team.

Rage Corner returns as Jeremy gets mad at Lions fans and I get mad at Thanksgiving food take-ists.

Evan joins us for the mailbag and I make a wager with Jeremy.
