Lions WR TJ Jones announced on Twitter late Wednesday he had surgery. This comes almost a month after he injured his shoulder against the on Dec. 16 against the Chicago Bears that ended the best season of his career. Jones had 30 catches for 399 yards and a touchdown in 2017. He's an intriguing case for the Lions in the offseason, too, because he's a restricted free agent. However, it's unlikely he'd be any higher than the No. 4 receiver in the Lions rotation -- so he's one of the many tougher calls general manager Bob Quinn and the new coaching staff is going to have to decide on over the next couple of months.

Teryl Austin knew he wouldn’t be Lions next head coach.
DSN

Former Lions DC Teryl Austin said he knew "it probably wasn't going to happen because of what happened to us as a staff," as far as being hired as a head coach in Detroit this time around. That's not a surprise. Austin was the first person interviewed in the process. He's being introduced as Cincinnati's defensive coordinator today. He did say in some of his interviews in the past, he didn't put his best foot forward and he's learned from that.
Teryl Austin, not surprisingly, praised former Lions coach Jim Caldwell and that he has "a ton of respect for him." Worked with or for Caldwell at four different places, including Baltimore and Detroit. Also said Lloyd Carr was one of the people who was one of his biggest mentors. Austin worked under Carr at Michigan.
