Detroit Pistons' Ben Wallace to be first undrafted player inducted into Hall of Fame

Good player, deserved to play in a All Star game or two but HOF???? Doesn?t belong w the greats.

4 defensive player of the year. Only him and Mutombo. Also in the hall, twice RB champ.. Defensive guys count too.

every hall of fame is different. If this were baseball, he wouldn't even sniff the HOF, they have standards. The NBA HOF doesn't have a very high standard. It's the hall of good.

You mean like Ozzie Smith who got in because of his defense.

Smith's offense was above average for his position. Ben's offense was WELL below average.

Smith was a 15x all star...one of the best players at his position for 15 years. Ben was a 4x all star.

Ben is such a great rebounder? 9.6 rebounds per game for his career. That ranks 75th all time.

Smith's offense .666 career OPS. 100 points behind Trammel. It was not above average. He got 15 all star games because he could do a flip.

I can't seem to be able to sort stats by decade, but iirc middle infielders in that era didn't hit much. Even if smith was average or slightly below average as a hitter, it pales in comparison to Ben Wallace's putrid offense. 5.7 points per game...LOL...that is pathetic.

and Ben was popular because he had a fro and the pistons played that stupid bell whenever he had a block.

Don't knock a 4 time defensive player. Just saying if Smith was above average then Tram was Jim Rice. And Smith was popular because of his Flip. Why else would be he be a 1st time above 90% election and Tram had to wait years. Smith offense was like Vince Coleman. Only Coleman's defensive wasn't near as good and he couldn't flip.

4x DPOY is a good accomplishment. But with his shitty offense, I think he was just a good player.

But like I said, the NBA HOF isn't very picky

Unless you plan on visiting the Naismith Memorioal Basketball HoF, then why care so much?

IMO, the biggest joke is the obviously misnamed "Rock & Roll" HoF, but had it been named the Modern Music HoF instead, then I would be okay with it. Even mediocre rock bands are more deserving of entry than the so very many artists and groups whose music would never be mistaken for being even remotely Rock & Roll, yet they have been voted in, nonetheless.

I wouldn't waste my time at any of the HOF's...but that doesn't mean I can't have an opinion about a player that is inducted.

HHOF in Toronto is pretty cool. I have some artifacts that it wants.

Wallace was not completely unassociated with a flip.
