Leyland has good things to say about rookie right-hander Jacob Turner.

Leyland said there was a possibility Turner could come out of next Spring Training as a piece of the rotation, but that it might not be the best thing for him, as the Tigers are handling the 20-year-old Turner with extreme care. The organization was very careful in monitoring his innings this season.

"Jacob's a very smart young guy," Leyland said. "He understands baseball and he understands pitching for a young guy. He's got to understand what it's going to take to get here, stay here, and he will accomplish that. That's a no-brainer."
