Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Tigers are telling teams they're not optimistic about getting an extension done with Max Scherzer but have no plans to deal him.

DD on MLB Network radio tonight.
Dombrowski: we're focused on winning a champ this year but (...) you're still in a spot where you have to keep the finances in mind.
Dombrowski: I think you want to win, not only now but you want to win in the future.
Dombrowski: We go out and sign a Joe Nathan, sign Rajai Davis today, we'd like to come up w/ another bullpen arm, it gives us flexibility.
Dombrowski: We've always been thinking at some point we'll have to move Miguel back to 1B. Sometimes you have to be reactive & ready to go.
Dombrowski: I think people will find out that Robbie Ray is a good young pitcher that is on the verge of pitching in the big leagues.
Dombrowski: Our depth is better, you've still got Ray pitching in AAA, Jose Alvarez can protect us, Hernan Perez is at AAA, McCann is at AAA.
Dombrowski: You try to provide winning, but you know you need that depth and sometimes you can't do it unless you make some other moves.

Speculation about Tigers' interest in Kemp unfounded.
Were the Tigers, whose payroll has dropped this offseason, really in contact with the Dodgers about superstar outfielder Matt Kemp, as a Foxsports.com report suggested Tuesday evening?

The answer from Tigers president/general manager Dave Dombrowski sounded like a line from a Taylor Swift song.
"We never ever have had a conversation with the Dodgers about Matt Kemp," Dombrowski said Wednesday evening.

The Dodgers have four outfielders for three spots, and Kemp has the biggest contract of the quartet. With six years and $128 million reportedly left on his deal, his remaining obligation is similar to the kind of deal many expect top free-agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo to sign. The Tigers were not involved in talks on Choo before signing Rajai Davis to a two-year contract.

Kemp's agent, former Major League pitcher Dave Stewart, told reporters Wednesday that the Dodgers assured Kemp he would not be traded.
