Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez, who entered tonight's game with a career-high ERA of 6.04, has another disastrous performance. The erratic starter lasted just three innings, giving up six runs on eight hits and three homers over the span of 64 pitches. Cannot see how the Tigers can afford to keep him in the rotation. Hasn't made any discernible progress, continues to leave team vulnerable every time he takes the mound. Seems a mental roadblock more than anything.

Tigers reliever Warwick Saupold leaves Tigers game in the bottom of the sixth with what appeared to be a groin injury. Saupold went down in pain after making an outstretched reach behind him to try to snag a Miguel Cabrera throw to first base. Alex Wilson replaced him in the game.

Not sure how many would have predicted this with the wheels falling off in the second inning but, after Ian Kinsler's grand slam in the seventh and Victor Martinez' solo shot in the eighth, it's a tie ballgame here at Angel Stadium, 9-9. Tigers previously trailed 9-2. Add in Anibal Sanchez debacle, Warwick Saupold injury, and a potential setback for Cameron Maybin and it adds up to a truly bizarre night.

Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez clearly shaken after another poor performance. Seems to be searching for answers but doesn't know how to explain what's plaguing him: "I don't know what's going on right now."

Some silver lining for the night: Tigers CF Cameron Maybin seems pretty optimistic that he won't miss any time despite his left wrist flaring up on him after fouling off a pitch in the seventh: "I think I should be playing tomorrow."

Tigers have a decision to make on starter Anibal Sanchez. Does he remain in the rotation or does the club plug someone else in instead? Manager Brad Ausmus declined to say: "Obviously, I wouldn't discuss that here," he said after the game." He did, however, express concern for what he's seeing from Sanchez right now: "He doesn't look real confident on the mound right now."

To make room for Parnell on the 40-man roster, the Tigers designated right-handed relief pitcher Jose Valdez for assignment.

Tigers' Anibal Sanchez demoted to bullpen.

The move was inevitable, especially after Sanchez’s self-proclaimed non-competitive outing against the Angels Tuesday (six runs, eight hits in three innings). In 11 starts, his ERA was 6.67 and he’d allowed 14 home runs in 56⅔ innings, including three in his last start.
In six May starts, he allowed 38 hits and 29 runs (26 earned) in 33 innings. Three years removed from posting the lowest ERA in the American League, Sanchez was pitching without conviction or confidence.

Moving Tigers' Anibal Sanchez to the bullpen is only part of the solution.
bybtb

The Tigers will need to make a decision with Pelfrey, and soon. Whether that's limiting how deep he goes into a game and splitting starts with a long man, or moving him to the bullpen, too, is up to them.

Mark Lowe, dealing with his own struggles, has been removed from the setup role, according to MLB.com's Jason Beck. He's been replaced by Justin Wilson until the team can get Lowe back on track.

Tigers' Cameron Maybin: In lineup Wednesday.
Maybin is in the lineup Wednesday, batting seventh and starting in center field against the Angels.

There was a bit of concern late Tuesday when Maybin left the game after appearing to aggravate something in his left wrist, which ultimately led to him being replaced in the field. However, Maybin told reporters after Tuesday's game that his wrist occasionally bothers him when he swings and misses. "Treatment and put the ball in play. Don't swing and miss. When I hit the ball hard, it feels fine," said Maybin to Jason Beck of MLB.com. He'll bat seventh against Angels righty Matt Shoemaker on Wednesday.

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Tosses gem Wednesday against Angels.
Fulmer (5-1) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in Wednesday's win against the Angels. He pitched 7.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out eight.
Coming into the game, Fulmer had delivered 14.2 innings of one-run ball with 14 strikeouts over his last two outings. He continued his dominant ways Wednesday, shutting down an Angels lineup that scored 11 runs on 17 hits in their previous game. The right-hander is learning how to use his changeup more effectively, and has certainly earned a long-term spot in Detroit's rotation. The 23-year-old will take a 3.24 ERA into his next start on Monday against the Blue Jays.

Tigers' Francisco Rodriguez: Throws season-high 33 pitches in 15th save.
Rodriguez pitched 1.1 innings, striking out two and walking one while recording his 15th save of the season.
Trying to preserve a masterful outing by Tigers' starter Michael Fulmer, Rodriguez was called on to throw a season-high 33 pitches to save the game. He's now 15-for-16 in save chances this year and on pace to entertain the idea of a 50-save season.
