Tigers make history...tie for the 4th time this spring (never been done - back to '66, anyway),
1-1 with Yankees in Tampa.

Duane Below started - went 3.2IP, allowed 1R on 3H, 1BB/1K. Hung some pitches, some hard-hit outs, but also worked out of two jams...

Marte - also battling for spot - worked crisp 1-2-3 inning after Villarreal....then Putkonen finished by retiring last six batters in order.

Worth finished 1-3 w/ walk and double, Inge 0-3, and now 7-41 (.171) this spring...Worth hitting .296 in 27AB.

Marte's spring line: 9.2IP, 3H, 0ER, 2W, 9K. Villarreal: 8.1IP, 3H, 2W/3K, 0ER.

Quintin Berry has impressed this spring - with bat and glove...he made a spectacular, running, diving catch in 9th to take triple from Wise.

Tigers only run scored on Santiago triple in third...Young stays hot - 2-3 with line drive single, and line drive double.

This was a split squad day for Tigers - the other Tigers team beat Phillies in Lakeland, 6-3.

In game in Lakeland, Tyler Collins - 6 Round pick last June - hit 3-run HR in 7th to break 2-2 tie. Verlander started - 6IP, 7H, 2ER, 0BB/3K.

With win and tie today, Tigers are 15-4-4 this spring...

play at home vs. Florida tom. afternoon - Porcello vs. Buehrle, 1pm.

Dan Dickerson

No pain after Turner's bullpen session.
from the Tigers official site

"He threw 45 pitches with no problem -- we're very pleased," said pitching coach Jeff Jones, who added that Turner used his entire repertoire.
Turner is expected to take two days off and then pitch in a game on Wednesday. Jones said he isn't sure whether Turner will appear in the Tigers' Major League game against the Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter or in a Minor League game.
