Tigers offense quiet again in second straight loss to White Sox.

Eighth inning: A lead off home run by Paul Konerko off Daniel Schlereth. <<<<Sucks.

Tigers infielder Brandon Inge made his 2012 debut, pinch-hitting in the ninth inning.
He grounded out to the pitcher to end the game.
Fhim.

Fister's treatment continues, no timetable set.
Doug Fister, whose spot in the Tigers' rotation would have been Saturday had he not strained a left rib-cage muscle, continues to receive treatment to alleviate the soreness. Until they make progress in that, he won't be going on a throwing program.
Head athletic trainer Kevin Rand provided the update Saturday, which was essentially the same status as Fister has had since the injury. That doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a long-term absence, but the Tigers will not have a timetable on Fister's return until that soreness goes away.

Tigers bats silenced in Wilk’s strong debut, Schlereth struggles in odd appearance.

The Tigers had five hits on the day, and fire-starter, Austin Jackson, had three of them.
Brennan Boesch hit his first home run of the year, and surprisingly has 6 RBI.
Prince Fielder has been on base in every game this year, via either hit or walk.
The Tigers offense goes the way Cabrera does. The slugger is 0-for-his-last-13 and the Tigers are 0-2 in the last two games where he has gone hitless.
Ryan Raburn went 0-for-3 again and hasn’t had a hit-hasn’t been on base-since the April 8th game against Boston. He’s 0-for-15 in that span, yet he’s only struck out 3 times. I’d look for him to start seeing hits drop relatively soon.

April 15 in Tigers and mlb history:

1983 - Detroit Tigers pitcher Milt Wilcox is one out away from a perfect game when pinch-hitter Jerry Hairston singles, and Wilcox settles for a 6 - 0 one-hitter over the Chicago White Sox. This is only the third time in major league history a perfect game bid has been stopped with one out to go.

1993: Sparky Anderson earns his 2,000th victory as a manager as the Detroit Tigers rally to beat the Oakland Athletics 3 - 2. He is the third manager in MLB history to reach the milestone.

1997 - The 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's breaking the color barrier in major league baseball is celebrated before 54,047 at Shea Stadium during a game between the Mets and the Dodgers. U.S. President Bill Clinton and Jackie's widow, Rachel Robinson, both speak during the 35-minute presentation, but the surprise of the evening occurs when acting Commissioner Bud Selig announces that Robinson's number 42 will be retired in perpetuity for every team.

2009: Every player in Major League Baseball wears number 42 today, in honor of the anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color line. The practice will be repeated in future years.

2011: Jim Leyland savors his 1,500th win as a manager when the Tigers defeat the Athletics 8 - 4 with a wild tenth inning. Oakland is cruising to a 1 - 0 victory after a solid start by Brandon McCarthy when Miguel Cabrera homers off Brian Fuentes to tie the game in the 9th. In the 10th, the A's commit three errors and the Tigers score 7 runs, two on a bases-loaded double by Brennan Boesch that breaks the tie. The A's then rally for 3 runs on their own in the bottom of the frame, but it is not enough to cancel Detroit's outburst. Leyland is the 19th manager in history to reach the 1,500-win milestone.

I remember the Wilcox perfect game try. I was a senior in HS about to graduate and I was on a date and had to get something from the car. I turned the radio on, like the 7th inning and it was exciting, and then in one PH heart broken moment was depressed.

And then I realize I was in my car for 3 innings and remembered I left my date inside the restaurant by herself. Lol. Funny to think about now but boy was she mad.. We didn't date anymore

Ah yes, good old HS days, I think all of us here did something like that.

It was jerry hairston the pinch hitter.
