April 25 in Tigers and mlb history:

1901 - At Bennett Park, the Detroit Tigers make an incredible comeback in their American League debut. Trailing 13 - 4 in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tigers score 10 runs in their last at-bat to defeat the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, 14 - 13. Frank Dillon drives in the game-winning run with a double, his fourth of the game. Dillon's four doubles is an opening day record that will be matched by Jim Greengrass in 1954.

1995 - Major League Baseball returns after a 257-day layoff. Players had gone on strike the previous August.

The two most-talked-about slumping Tigers hitters, at least among fans and sports-talk hosts, are getting a rest Wednesday night.
Ryan Raburn (.091) and Brandon Inge (.100) were not in the lineup posted a few hours before the game against the Mariners at Comerica Park.
With right-handed Cy Young candidate Felix Hernandez on the mound, Tigers manager Jim Leyland took the opportunity to get some of his left-handed hitters into the lineup.
