Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Masterson beat the Bengals for the first time in 8 career starts, completing Cleveland?s sweep. He walked 5, but Detroit?s offensive woes continued with an 0 for 9 with RISP. That wasted a typically strong Verlander effort (CG, 1 walk, 7 Ks); he lost to Cleveland for the first time since 2010.
Shin-Soo Choo (monster HR and walk in 4 trips) is coming on after a slow start. In his last 15 games, he?s hitting .340 with an OBP near .450.
The Tribe has been Verlander?s toughest out; he?s now 13-12, 4.70 in 28 career starts.
Tigers haven?t won consecutive games since April 17-18, and are 11-21 since then. Attention has focused on the inconsistency of Fielder and Cabrera, but the bigger problems are lower in the order.

Alex Avila - The Detroit Tigers catcher has been in a rut the past couple of weeks batting just .162 with 2 extra base hits. Avila enjoyed a breakout season in 2011 and was rated highly in catcher rankings because of it. It is still too early to put labels on a player's performance but I doubt anyone would argue if you were to call him a disappointment. The Tigers as a team are struggling so Avila is not the only under-performer. That lineup is built to produce runs and could go on a tear at any moment, keep Avila active as the 2011 AL Central champs are due for a breakout.

VERLANDER DOESN'T STOP TIGERS' SKID
From Elias Sports: The Tigers' slide continued despite having their ace on the mound. Justin Verlander, who absorbed the loss for Detroit, was 12-0 over his previous 13 starts that immediately followed a Tigers defeat, including a 4-0 mark in five previous starts under those circumstances this season.

Roy Halladay interview;
Best pitcher in baseball is who? ?Justin Verlander.
[Dan Patrick: What makes you go wow when you see him?]
First thing is he has the stuff. You have seen that for a long time. I think what I have seen recently out of him is that he has been able to control it and dial it down at times and then add when he needs to. I don?t think you see the 100 mph every single pitch. You see him pitch it and work through lineups and he?s taken that overpowering stuff and become a pitcher with it and that?s a tough combination when you have both of those.?

Tigers call up speedster Berry

With Austin Jackson (OF, DET) still on the bench nursing an abdominal strain, the Tigers called up Quintin Berry (OF, DET) from AAA-Toledo and he was immediately inserted into the lineup in the leadoff spot. It will be the first major league experience for the 27-year-old Berry after six seasons in the minors.

Overall, Berry's minor league numbers are underwhelming. He has a career BA of .267, with .338 Slg, which reflect this season's performance at Toledo (.270 BA/.321 Slg). He does, however, have a couple of useful skills. In 692 minor league games, he's stolen 261 bases, and this season he's swiped 19 in 159 AB. And unlike some speedsters, he knows how to take a walk. This season he has a 12% bb%, leading to a solid .368 OBP.
