Thanks Bob, incredibly we got power restored less than 24 hours.
I was going by all the National grid forecast of power restored into next week. I feel lucky to get it tonight.
Just hope it stays on. wind chill was 2 degrees an hour ago.

1920: The Joint Rules Committee bans all foreign substances or other alterations to the ball by pitchers, including saliva, resin, talcum powder, paraffin, and the shine and emery ball. A pitcher caught cheating will be suspended for 10 days.
The American League allows each club to name just two pitchers who will be allowed to use the pitch for one more season.
The National League allows each club to name all its spitball pitchers. No pitchers other than those designated will be permitted to use the banned pitch, and none at all after this season (however, the designated pitchers will eventually be allowed to use the pitch for the rest of their careers).
Other rules changes: the adoption of writer Fred Lieb's proposal that a game-winning home run with men on base be counted as a home run even if the batter's run is not needed to win the game. Also, the intentional walk is banned, and everything that happens in a protested game will go in the records.

1922 - Judge Kenesaw Landis cracks down on phony player deals. He fines the Cards and Tigers $150 each, and three minor league clubs a total of $1,400 for violating waiver rules. In March, he will assess the Giants $1,764 for the improper transfer of a player.

1927 The A’s sign free agent legend Ty Cobb.

1971 - Former Negro Leagues P Satchel Paige is nominated for the Hall of Fame. On June 10 the Hall's new Special Committee on the Negro Leagues will formally select Paige for induction.

1976 - Oscar Charleston is selected for the Hall of Fame by the Special Committee on the Negro Leagues.

1994 - The Ted Williams Retrospective Museum and Library opens in Hernando, FL.

2005 The Cubs trade Kyle Farnsworth to the Tigers.

Glad your back Ron. Very little to read when your not posting. Lol. Stay warm and hope the power holds up. We were lucky again here in Detroit with only 4 or 5 inches. That will all be gone in the next couple days with rain and 40 degree temps. Thanks again the mailman in you comes through again when 2 feet of snow doesn't stop you

February 10 in Tigers and mlb history:

1884 - Billy Evans is born in Chicago, Illinois. One of the foremost umpires in history, Evans will spend 22 years in the American League. He will achieve great prestige for his fairness and unquestioned integrity.

1910 - Major League owners are now forbidden to own more than one baseball franchise.

1920: At a joint meeting in Chicago, IL, it is decided that all bleacher prices will be raised to 50 cents, pavilion seats to 75 cents, and grandstand seating to $1.00. Clubs may set aside bleacher space for kids under 14 at 15 and 25 cents if they wish.
In other agreements, the May 15-August 30 player limits are raised from 21 to 25, and the American League prohibits player transfers after July 1st; the National League, after August 20th.

1925 - At an American League meeting, a plan is adopted to alternate the site of future World Series openers by league rather than deciding it by a coin toss, with Games One, Two, Six, and Seven in one park and Three, Four, Five in the other, unless a ban on Sunday baseball interferes in one city. The clubs finishing fourth in the AL will share in the World Series pool. World Series umpires get a raise to $2,500, while umps in city series will earn $700. The plan was proposed in 1924, but is formally adopted at this meeting.

1971: Former player Bill White becomes the first black play-by-play broadcaster in major league history. WPIX-TV hires White to team with Phil Rizzuto and Frank Messer on New York Yankees broadcasts.

1975 - Former Negro Leagues player Judy Johnson wins election to the Hall of Fame. A third baseman in the 1920s and 1930s, Johnson batted .309 over a 17-year professional career.
