I think Adams and Layne commit this weekend and Josh King just tweeted this in response to Messiah committing.

Good Choice Bro, let's make MSU 2016 Recruiting class #1!!!

Robertson, King, and Kareem would make one helluva DE class.

The obsession is real

Victors is ok, he isnt that type (or ive met much worse). I dont think Deweaver fits into our system as of right now. I wouldnt call him Michigan "after birth" but hes an option guy isnt he??? We are questionable at QB after Cook. I think weve had better qbs than Cook but with a worse supporting cast. I dont see Deweaver as our future given our current offense. HOWEVER, spreading with scott and an option with Deweaver could give us a different look.

I don't think so. I haven't watched any film but Rivals lists him as a "pro-style quarterback". Very similar physically to Terry - hopefully not as injury prone.

For this upcoming year Ill just have faith in the system I suppose. Cook may not be the best guy on paper but hes cock sure and wins games. I feel everything is being thrown off with Narduzzi leaving and hoping it wont trickle down to offense. who was a bigger loss, Waynes or Narduzzi? Im expecting the Narduzzi loss will be evident the first few games. Im also expecting the loss of langford to hurt. It will be interesting to see how things shake out but Scott is going to have to carry a load most likely. I hope Kings will be eligible after the extra curricular happenings and Arnett, cmon its do or die for him.

if you read between the lines I think deweaver committed to the staff a while ago and they delayed the announcement until a few days before the green and white game? this could be big for momentum for the spring game, maybe help secure a few other guys. we don't want kids to commit on a whim to MSU or be pressured into it but it seems like the timing of this was delayed a week or so since UK took a QB a week ago and this didn't surprise anyone.

He fits in exactly with the type of QB we've taken the last several classes. We're not looking for a running QB, we're looking for a QB who can use his legs in the pocket to extend plays. You'll notice Terry, Lewerke, O'Conner, and even Cook are all about the same level of athlete, Cook is actually our fastest QB. DeWeaver fits that mold of a pocket QB who has just enough athleticism to extend plays to allow the receivers to get open, it's what Coach D talked about over and over a few off seasons ago.

DeWeaver has a decent, but not great arm, but he is extremely smart, a 4.0 student, and he's a natural leader. He's also grown an inch and put on a lot of good weight. He plays for one of the best programs in Ohio and lead them as their starting QB to State titles in his freshman and sophomore seasons, they did not win it last year. He seems to be very popular with a lot of other top recruits and is the type of kid that is going to recruit very hard going forward.

He's a good pickup, about the same type and level of recruit we've been brining in at QB for a few years.

I think we have a good shot of getting Josh King this weekend, he would be a huge Dline pickup. Justin Layne will be there but might not pop right away but i have read that he's wearing a lot of spartan gear

No lines to read between. He came out and said he committed 2 weeks ago and they kept it quiet. Ohio St made a late push for him and he told them no thanks.

He also addressed the rumors that Michigan had pulled their offer, he said "I talked to coach Harbaugh when he got hired, he expressed how much he wanted me, and I just felt in my heart that Michigan State was the better school for me. It's that simple."

King is not visiting this weekend. Layne is though, DeWeaver and Layne night have been a package deal. Demetric Vance might be ready to pull the trigger. And it would not surprise me if Khalid Kareem recommitted.

I watched some youtube footage, he looks solid actually. I also saw later he was a "pro-style QB" and the fact hes trying to pull other guys in is a great intangible.

MSU is bringing in solid Ohio talent. It's as if Dantonio has Ohio ties or something. Oh wait, he does! As an OSU guy I'd be bummed if not for the fact that like Dantonio, Urban has a plan and is executing in a big way.

Anyway, I'm always happy to see Dantonio and MSU do well and it's an added bonus that these kids are selecting EL and not AA. It's also interesting to note that kids in general aren't exactly lining up to commit to the new Marketing wizard in Ann Arbor.

I think MSU is going to get a lot of players in Ohio that OSU doesn't offer, but they're going to get a player or two that OSU wants badly each year now too. Kind of like Michigan used to get. Ohio State will still get the bulk of the top shelf talent, heck, they just won a Natty and their coach is widely recognized as on of the best recruiters to ever coach in college.

Ohio State is a juggernaut on the recruiting trail right now, as they should be. But MSU can't worry about that, what we have to worry about is improving our recruiting each year. I think you're starting to see that these last couple years as we now have an established brand. I think a class rank of 15-20 for MSU is our new baseline. The facilities upgrades were huge, no longer can our facilities be used against us in recruiting, they're on par with most anyone's in the country.

As for Doctor Gatorade in Ann Arbor? UM use to get a lot of kids from Ohio that just wanted to play in that rivalry game. I know most people aren't old enough to remember, but the Ohio State-Michigan game used to be a fairly big regional rivalry back in the day and it was competitive, Michigan even used to win that game occasionally. I know, hard to believe, but look it up, it's true. You think any of these Ohio players give two shits about playing in the UM-Ohio State game.

Sure, we beat OSU for Scott and Layne, but we also beat UM for both of them. Harbashian was hot after Scott as soon as he finished bonging his first gallon of milk on the ground in Ann Arbor. And UM recruited Layne pretty hard too, he visited there several times. Maybe playing for a media whore like Harbashian isn't all that appealing to some kids. He did demonstrate in his interview with Winston though that he's the type of coach who will really help you learn how to keep your story straight if you're accused of rape, totally class move that interview was. If they don't get Gary after hiring his high school coach for the sole purpose of bringing him there, they could be in for a different type of team.

UM fans see Harbashian in the news all the time acting like a lunatic and think it's great that he's bringing attention to the program. What they don't see is that he's made UM Football even more of a punchline. These ridiculous notes his son is writing to recruits are being shared by recruits as a way to mock UM Football. Harbashian's and his son's antics are driving kids away, they're a laughingstock. And you'll notice Harbashian and the UM slappy press around that program say next to nothing about the team and how they might be this Fall, they know it's the worst team in terms of actual football talent (Not stars) Michigan has ever fielded.

staying away from the harbaugh stuff but in general, someone is going to get the Ohio kids that don't want to go to OSU. I think the overwhemling majority will but we lucked out that LJ Scott was looking at OSU and Elliot is a beast who would keep him on the bench or at least limit his carries for 2 years and for Layne, MSU loses Burbridge and Kings this year so there is plenty of playing time for him. Timing is important and for a lot of these kids OSU might have been a great program for them but given their roster and youth it didn't make sense, same thing for deweaver (who OSU made a late push for). UM, PSU, and other schools used to get these kids, it's great that we're getting our share now.
