Dig holding out

The way I see there are three ways this could play out:

Overpay based on 1 good year
Lowball, create lockeroom turmoil then allow him to walk without drafting a replacement
Restructure 3 times and then franchise

Or draft Collins at 23 and tell Dig to fuck off...

He's a 32 year old mediocre safety. Who cares.

Just going out on a limb here: maybe Mayhew? Mediocre describes like 2/3 of our roster at least. He wouldn't be able to field a team without mediocre FAs.

He's better than mediocre, but he can be replaced. I love what Dig did for us last year, but he's getting long in the tooth and paying more money to his backup might mean that the jig is up. I would love to see a guy like Collins paired up with Quin in the backfield. Our safeties would be locked up for the next 5 years at least...

Quin and Tate are mediocre now? Tulloch wasn't mediocre at the time either. Sims? Cmon naaaaahhhhh, son!!

I know they play 5 on 5 in the cfl but there are 53 players on a nfl team.

Nah. He was benched for a reason. He's not a bum but he misses too many tackles and gets exploited in the passing game. He had a nice turnover season but he was benched in the stretch for a reason.

Too many other needs to draft a TE in R1.

Oh, right...Collins is a safety....

Yeah I'd rather they draft a legit TE instead of a safety.

Ah fuck, it doesn't matter...its the Lions! Not winning 10 games next year anyway so...

Can't blame him for trying to get as much money out of the Lions as he can. If he was terrible last year he would be cut. That said...the Lions should do nothing...he'll be back. He won't sit out the year.
