Pride Of Detroit Lions Podcast: Setting expectations for the Detroit Lions 2020 rookie class. 77 minutes.
We look at realistic expectations for the Lions’ 9 draft picks.
The Detroit Lions 2020 NFL Draft class is set. Many are pretty happy with the nine selections general manager Bob Quinn and his team made last week, but around this time, most fans are pretty optimistic both about their new players and the season ahead.
So to help understand rookie roles and perhaps temper expectations a bit this time of year, this week’s PODcast is devoted to the Lions’ rookie class and predicting their production for their inaugural season.
Last year, expectations got a little out of control for a guy like T.J. Hockenson, so should we preach caution with a guy like second-round pick D’Andre Swift? What about Jeff Okudah? Will he struggle like many rookie cornerbacks, or will he follow the more recent trend of high draft picks making an immediate impact?
To help set expectations, we set over/under totals for statistical measures of each player. Will Okudah tally more or less than 13.5 passes defended? Over/Under 625 rushing yards for Swift? Can Julian Okwara eclipse 6.0 sacks his rookie season? Over/Under 67.5 PFF grade for Jonah Jackson in 2020?
All of that, plus some talk on Jarrad Davis’ decline fifth-year option, schedule release expectations and free agency on this week’s episode of the PODcast. Enjoy!
