anyone notice how UK completely scrapped their offense in the second half? we shut them down in the half court and they couldn't get anything going with dribble drive, all they had was a dump down to randle and hope for a foul or basket.

I said in a different thread that we win by 20 with AP in there, he picked up some really dumb fouls, his first was about 90ft from the basket on randle. it does bring up a concern for this team about post defense behind Payne, Gauna is terrible on defense and Dawson tried hard but was giving up 4 inches. we need payne and costello to stay on the floor against teams with good bigs.

That was the best front line they'll see all season. They are huge and athletic. I think Costello will be fine and hopefully Schilling can be trusted with significant minutes in time, if need be. Physically he fits the bill. Agree on Gauna.

Kentucky can beat a lot of teams just dumping it down to Randle and hoping for a basket - that's what they did when Payne was in the game. When he wasn't they were dumping it down to Randle for easy buckets and a possible bonus trip to the foul line. I couldn't stand watching Nix on offense against other bigs but defensively, Gauna and Costello are light years behind.

Without Payne we had to send 5 guys to the glass to crash the defensive boards and we were still getting killed there. We're going to need Costello to step up and be a good defensive rebounder who can start the fast break with the pass. Payne was just as vital on the glass as he was playing defense on Randle. Has to stay in the game.

I thought Kentucky really stepped up their half court defense in the 2nd half too.

rebounds were even in the first half, in the second is where they pulled away. Payne was on the bench for a long time and had to play soft to avoid #5

I thought Kaminski (no idea how to spell his name) is a great rebounder, why haven't we seen him yet? He can't be worse than Gauna

He was suspended due to grades, but was eligibile to play last night. Kaminski is also the best 3 point shooter on the team. Looking forward to getting a look at him Friday night.

I'm excited to see what he brings to the table. He hasn't seen the court in a MSU uniform correct?
I still think our best lineup would Appling, Harris, Valentine, Dawson and Payne. They'd run every team out if the gym.

i don't think he's a great rebounder and he's a defensive liability from what i've read. he's a stretch 4 with a good shot but he needs to put some weight on and get stronger

Actually, I'd heard he was a very good rebounder, he has actually dropped close to 20 pounds and now is under 230 at 6-7. Defense is an issue, but I heard he can rebound.
