Each team's most overrated/underrated players

Detroit Lions
Overrated: TE Brandon Pettigrew **-- While I didn't agree with their decision to take tight end Eric Ebron in the first round, I get it. This former first-*round pick drops a lot of passes and isn't the threat the team needs in the middle of the field.

Underrated: G Larry Warford **-- As a rookie, he was dominant at right guard. He should have been in the Pro Bowl. With a year of seasoning, I bet he gets there this season.

Other teams of note:

Green Bay Packers
Overrated: OLB*/DE Julius Peppers --** I liked the Packers signing him to a deal, but he didn't play that well last season. Maybe a new home will rejuvenate him. He's more name than game based on last season.

Underrated: DE Mike Daniels --** He surprised a lot of people with the way he played last season, especially in the second half. He isn't huge for the position, but he makes a lot of plays. He's a good pass rusher from the down spot.



Chicago Bears
Overrated: CB Charles Tillman *--* He certainly wasn't anything close to what he used to be last season. He struggled in coverage, but they didn't have much of a pass rush and the safeties were really bad. Age is starting to show.

Underrated: G Matt Slauson **-- He came over as a free agent from the Jets and outplayed Jermon Bushrod, the higher-*priced free agent who played tackle next to him. He is a mauler and a brawler.



Minnesota Vikings
Overrated: WR Greg Jennings **-- He signed as a free agent last year and didn't come close to living up the expectations. He's just a guy now, as his 11.8 yards per* catch average shows.

Underrated: T Phil Loadholt **-- He is a right tackle, which means it's almost impossible for him to sniff a Pro Bowl. But he had a heck of a season on the right side for the Vikings in 2013.

That's why I would not have drafted him. I would have rather had Denard because I think he transitions well,has immediate impact in the NFL, and at a position we need serious help at. He is a very smart and fundamentally sound player. TE's and receivers struggle just as much in their first years.

Yep. Take Dennard at 10 and grab a WR in round 3. Still get an added offensive weapon, and the secondary gets better.

Why dont we wait and see them play an NFL game before we start calling Ebron a bad pick. I wanted Dennard as well. But I didnt know much about Ebron. The more video I have seen the more excited I am about the potential.

Well unfortunately you can use that "let's wait and see" logic for any player, that basically renders the entire draft conversation useless. No one is allowed to make any speculations, which defeats the purpose of a message board.

As it stands on July 6, the Lions needed the biggest improvement in the secondary. The draft pick of a 2nd TE (after resigning Pettigrew to a big contract) is a luxury and not nearly as important as other areas. So right now in a lot of people's minds, it's a bad pick. We'll see what happens.

I don't think that's the reason. And it's not really about Ebron being good or bad, at least not for me. Just thought we should have went elsewhere..is that not allowed? I wonder if someone actually read what we post..

If there is anything history has thought us...it is to trust the judgement of the Lions coaches and front office.

I tire of hearing "people on here think they know more than the Lions front office." Tell you what, take any person on here who knows a lot about the game, train them in the rules and regulations of management, and I would like to think for damn sure they could get it right more than these guys have. It's not some secret science that none of us can ever grasp. It's evaluation of talent and managing how you spend your money. The Lions can't do either very well.
