ESPN New York

ESPN really should just change its name to ESPN New York anyways. Waaahh.

I thought you were on point. I actually don't blame Girardi, as I rarely blame the manager. I agree that for the Yankees to go into the playoffs with CC, Nova, Garcia and Burnett as starters is inexcusable for a team with their resources.

After watching Phil Hughes pitch a little in the series, I wonder if they'd want a do over and give him a start.

decent article.

more annoyed by the "did the yanks lose talk"

bottom line is their starting pitching beyond CC is average and despite the relatively solid production in this series the bottom of their lineup is not that impressive.

more names than anything....very patient hitters tho.

Yanks didn't lose anything. The Tigers just kicked their collective butts.

So if that Derek Jeter fly out in the 8th had gone 5 feet further would we all be talking about how New York made all the right moves and they got their moneys worth? It was a close series, the Tigers won 3 close games.

I've been hearing about all this choking stuff from NY fans all night, what gets lost is that Detroit didn't play all that great this series. They obviously had some big stage jitters in game 1. Also forget Tex and A-Rod, how about Martinez, Cabrera, Avila, and Perralta? Our 4 best hitters batted a collective .149 this series. The Tigers were not hitting on all cylinders, but still found a way to gut it out. We beat the Yanks without our A game while being led by Kelly, Young, and Ordonez at the plate and getting some good pitching.

If Detroit lost, it'd be about Miggy and Avila and a could others who played like shit. But very minor compared to the Yanks.

hangchili
I'm going to accept a great deal of blame for the loss last night. I was wearing the same attire that had been successful in carrying the Yankees to victory in game four. I stuck with the same approach when I probably should have made an outfit change as things got away from Nova in the first inning. I'm going to work hard in the offseason to enhance my wardrobe so this doesn't happen again next year.

Tom Platania
A-Rod should be arrested for robbing a bank.....$$$$32Mil and his attitude sucks!!!!!This nonchalant approach to the dugout of looking around, spitting out his sunflower seeds, helmet in rack and taking a seat!!!! Paul ONeill would have kicked everything in site a nd would have showed emotion. A-Rod sucks and has 6 more years to cash in!!!! Trade him and pay some of his robbery $$$ like Texas did many years ago. Throw in Tex who also stole from the bank. PATHETIC Overpaid $@% holes. PS.....get rid of Giradi and bring in a tough guy. All he does is protect his bank robbers!!!

BAHEAMOTH
He actually shoudl be arrested for Fraud.. he did get a contract based on fraud numbers, using steroids boosted his numbers allowing him to get paid more.. anywhere ELSE HE WOULD BE FEDERALLY CHARGED FOT THAT

Exactly. If Jeter's ball goes out every Tiger fan would be bitching about Cabrera, AA etc. Winning soothes everything!

Yankees payroll 01-11 ~1.8 Billion

Yankees SOLE '09 WS win within that span: pricele$$

:)

I just love it how even when the Yankees lose they still get more attention than the Tigers do. On SC they had like fifteen minutes dedicated to the Yankees and about 30 seconds to the Tigers.

ARoid's BA in the ALDS: .111

With RISP 0-5

:)

Coincidentally that average is identical to ex-Tigers 2B now Phillies' 3B Placido Polanco, however Polly's BA could rise, or more likely fall some more, since he will get at least one more AB in Game 5 vs the Cardinals, who hold a slim lead over @ Phils 1-0 in the bottom of the 6th. The Phillies currently have all of 3 hits, 2 by Victorino. The Brewers, who I accurately predicted would win in 5 games, will face the winner of this game in the upcoming NLCS.

Have a feeling that the Cardinals who I predicted would win in 4 games will instead win in 5, taking out the "other" favored team in their NLDS, ala the Yankees, who I accurately predicted would lose to the Tigers in 5 games.

EDIT: Last chance for the Phillies in the bottom of the 9th, score still 1-0, Cardinals SP Carpenter is apparently going to pitch a 3 hit CG SHO aaaand yes he does...the Phillies lose!!!...wowzers!!

Could the Cardinals and the Tigers face off YET AGAIN in the '11 World Series!?!

???

If so I have mixed feelings about it, as I would absolutely LOVE it, if the Tigers could exact revenge for being humiliated by the Cards, losing all but Kenny Rogers' gem in Game 2 of the '06 WS, but of course the Cardinals are managed by Tony LaRussa, who obviously knows how to manage a winning postseason team, as us Tigers fans quickly discovered to our great dismay.

That's a fabulous idea. Using this year's standings, while the Phillies and Yankees are playing the best of 21 World Series, the Brewers and Rangers could be playing a Runner-Up Series with the Tigers and Diamondbacks in the Also-Ran Series. Think of the ratings!"

Yeah, I know that we Tigers fans have largely moved on since our team defeated the Yankees in the ALDS, but now it seems from reading the loser and disgruntled Yankees fans posts online, that many, if not most are now trending towards disliking the fact that their glorious 27-WS winning Yankees franchise and its teams, who often have the best regular season record in the AL, have to play against and win vs allegedly "inferior" teams in the postseason, and BEFORE playing the winner of the NLDS/CS in the World Series...lol.

::)

Like the post quoted above in the link below to a Yankees message-board/NY sports forum, I have read that many think that the AL/NL DS/CS should either be eliminated, and just the teams with the two best regular-season records in the AL/NL play in the World Series, OR both DS/CS should remain, but reserved only for the 2 other division winners and runner-ups with fewer wins. This of course would mean that future Yankees teams would much more often win their "rightful" and "deserving" shares of World Series Championship trophies, instead of to other more inferior MLB franchises and their teams, who obviously do not have the "rich" WS winning history that their precious Yankees have..heh!!

Those guys are complete idiots. Best of 21 would not be a good idea for owners or the league. Most fans would probably stop watching the regular season at the halfway point because they already know there team was not going to make it into the "playoffs". Maybe more playoff revenue but less revenue in general.

How big of a rock do you have to have lived under to suddenly wake up in 2011 and realize that the team with the best record in the regular season doesn't always become the champion? What a bunch of incoherent babies.
