Phillies release Dontrelle Willis
Well, I would guess that will have been his very last shot at playing in professional baseball. His severance pay from the Phillies of $139K alone is probably more than my entire income has totaled, since the turn of the century, so Willis should have an extremely comfortable retirement w/o needing to find a job outside of baseball.
The Tigers ballclub having extending him for 3 years, 29M prior to the '08 season, and getting Jack Squat as a result for a return on their money, has virtually ensured that he should, unless he is a real sucker for bad investment advice and/or has a Cecil Fielder-like gambling addiction.
