I suspect Seattle takes Stecher. My desire to take anyone else.

This is the first I heard that there was going to be an expansion team. I don't follow hockey. Did they make any changes to the way the expansion draft was done? IIRC the last one was almost too favorable for the Las Vegas team. It looks like they have been in the league for 4 years, made the playoffs all 4 years and made it to the finals in their first season.

Same as Vegas.

Are there not two choices in how to protect players that did not occur in 2017?

Not sure. You have the normal 7 forwards, 3 defenseman and a goalie. 2nd option, not sure if new, 8 skaters and a goalie.

But the rules of selecting is same as Vegas. Kraken will select one player from each team excluding the Golden Knights for a total of 30 (at least 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goalies).

It's pretty odd. They can only protect 11 but can only lose 1.

It is interesting though. It would be fun if MLB or the NFL had an expansion draft...to come up with a list of who I would want to protect or not.

I don't know a single thing about the Wings. Is there someone on the list that you Wings fans would want to lose?

Not really. Wings will move on fine regardless who they lose. A couple of those are free agents so Seattle would have to work out a new contract before selecting them.

Also there's exempt rules (Protected from being drafted) recently drafted, players with certain amount of games played, 27 games in the NHL or 54 combined etc..

Dekeyser for me. I can't imagine he gets taken.

I certainly don't know any of the players on the roster...actually, I have never even heard of any of them. That said, If I were a Wings fan I would hope they take Frans Nielsen off their hands. He is 37 and makes over $5M next year.

Expansion draft on TV is about the dumbest thing..

Anyway Seattle selects Dennis "I was going get to get released anyway" Cholowski.

So far I'm not thinking Seattle will be good like Vegas the first season.
