Fairley might get a long ass delayed suspension

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley had a hearing postponed from one of his two offseason arrests, likely pushing back the timetable for any NFL discipline. A hearing for the first arrest is now scheduled for Nov. 27, according to the Mobile Press-Register. A hearing for the second is currently scheduled for Aug. 14.

It's assumed, but not necessarily a fact, that Goodell would wait until after the judicial process to make a ruling on whether Fairley will miss any games. The longer the delay, the less likely of a chance that Fairley will be suspended in 2012.

He may be a tool but I like the fact that players are now being held accountable for their actions off the field. Before this players were convicted of murder and not missing a snap.

If it happens during training camp or during season i'm all for it. but offseason on their own time i really dont think the NFL should have any say whatsoever, unless the punishment from the courts runs into the season.
But I don't know NFL policy or what the contracts players sign state about personal conduct away from the game.

Just heard Goodell on sports radio...says he wants American football to be an Olympic sport. I think that adds to his toolishness. It would be brutal to watch the U.S. trounce everybody and how do you work around the Olympic timetable when you're supposedly so concerned about player safety?
