Sorry Victor, but a RP/CL from a big market ballclub who didn't play in as many games or innings as you had last season, is certainly far more deserving of the AL award.:p

Besides, it was Mo's last go-round in MLB before retiring, so as a longtime career-encompassing member of the most important and globally recognizable MLB franchise, being none other than the vaunted Yankees, he must be given as much recognition as is humanly possible, along with some sweet parting gifts, for the likely near-future first-ballot HOFer & unlike Todd Helton, who rather very quietly hung up his spikes this season, or Chipper Jones who retired last year.

Forgot that this was Liriano's second comeback player of the year award. He also won it in the AL with the twinks in '10. I wonder how many other players in MLB history have won it twice, much less in both the AL and NL?

I have no problem with Mo winning comeback player of the year. Both he and V-Mart are part time players (DH & Closer). If V-mart wouldn't have had such a terrible first half he probably would have won it.

Vmart should win the CBPFFH (come back player from first half) award. In any event, last year for MO you know he was going to win it..

Vmart sure finished strong, but we really could have used his bat some in the first few months.

I think for that reason alone, Mo made more sense.

For me, I like the award going to someone (a good career player) who sucked the previous year rather than to someone who missed it because of injury.

So then you're actually rewarding someone with a good career for having a shitty year, and then returning to normal.

You make it sound like players coming back from disappointing years have never won this award before..The award started on that concept.

Liriano from what I read is the only player to win in both leagues.

you kinda knew it would be Mo,

Victor might have won it any other year, even with not getting hits for most of the first half, despite hitting the ball on the screws but mostly at a fielder.

Kaline won the Comeback player award it in 1961 after a rather down year by his standards in 1960, benched in mid May in '60 batting .218 started hitting to the tune of .330ish to finish at .278.
1961 had his typical numbers.

Victor had the misfortune of coming back the same year Mariano came back from injury. I have no issue with Mo being CBPY. Liriano was a no-brainer in the NL. He has a shot at being a 3x winner! lol
