That’s a pretty long life.

I’m pretty sure he’s still the only player to have won the MVP in both leagues.

F. ROBINSON. That's what it read on the back of his Orioles' uniform. It read "B. ROBINSON" on the back of his brother's uniform.

I didn?t see this until now.

Not only were they brothers, but they also played together on those great Orioles teams of the late 60s and the 70s.

Weird, right?

They?re named after a racist who stood in the way of integration?

I know the name Landis and know he was commissioner a long time, that?s about it.

Assuming all this is true, let?s talk about it, and if it seems right and we get consensus, I say rename them.

Rename the MVP awards in the name of the great Frank Robinson.

They were hard to tell apart without the different numbers on their backs. Sometimes, being the pranksters they were, they'd switch uniforms for weeks at a time, which really, were this more widely known, would cause quite a furor in the SABR community.

Especially since they wore the other's uniform quite frequently in 1966, when Frank won the MVP and the Triple Crown.

Looking at that photo, if I didn?t know that there was two of them, I would go and get my eyes checked.

I would swear that I was seeing double.

I know, it takes some time to be able to tell them apart.

It was easier when they played on different teams, but one wonders: could they have switched teams, just for a laugh>

I am glad that I have an eye appointment this week.
