Freeman benched

I know this probably belongs on the General NFL board, but you ex-ESPN folks must remember our old friend Hoopster. Boy did he love Freeman over Stafford.

Freeman has been benched in favor of a rookie. His completion percentage is in the mid 40's. This kid actually showed some potential I thought. What the heck happened?

If I remember correctly there were quite a few in the Freeman camp. I remember Slick saying he thought down the line he'd be the best QB of the draft..he seemed to start off well and then just went south.

I am a bit surprised at how his last 3 years have gone. Think his 2nd year he had 25 tds to 10 ints

I too am surprised at Freeman's downward spiral...and also do recall clearly hoopster's infatuation with him. In fact, I think multiple times he stated "What the Lions need is a big, strong quarterback like Josh Freeman." He was really adamant about the "big, strong" part. So much so that I was little worried about him and his love for the WNBA. Oh well...this Mike Stafford guy's turning out okay.

I wonder if it's a work ethic/confidence issue with Freeman. He was young coming in, and maybe his confidence never recovered after his first bad season, and maybe he never really tried after that. Lots of talk about him being late for meetings and stuff.

5-7 his final year at KSU and was a 59% passer in college. He wasn't a very good college qb. Sometimes expectations and hype are too high due to measurables at the combine. Dude was 6'5'' and his ball "popped." who the fuck cares if you don't win games, cant navigate in the pocket or throw with accuracy.

I think this pretty much sums it up. He isn't a guy you turn to and say win me a game and really cant be a game manager. Also Tampa is just not very good. The oline has been suspect even though the running game was decent and all his receiving targets were not consistent.
