Futures game thread.

Didn't have a chance to watch the game, but it was definitely fun reading all of the posts on here. Just kind of puts a smile on the face.

And yeah, watched Castellanos when they were playing in Fort Wayne last year and I believe he had two solid doubles off of the wall. Looks like he will definitely fill out some. Last year he even looked a little bit lanky, but was still very broad.

Bring him up and put Miguel in Left field or right field .... Heck he is playing 3rd better then we thought and he has come across to me as a team guy..He had no problem with the switch to 3rd.. His foot work has been beyond expectations and passable at third. He could probably do a decent job on the outfield... Way better then Boesch, Raburn or Mr Young. I know the kid is to young.. But heck Harper is helping his club.. At least his stock is sky high!!!!

Loved what I saw from Rondon. Looked like he had great balance, shouldn't have too much trouble throwing strikes.

Since his call-up to Erie he's had 8 saves in 9 apperances; 9.1 ip, 0 runs, 3 hits, 3 bb, 11 k.

Gotta believe we'll see him in September.

I don't think he is ready. Wait for some more power and maybe better pitch recognition.

I think he is. He was crushing the best pitching in the minors yesterday and his power will grow no matter what level he plays at.

It will grow but I rather see it grow before he gets to the Majors, at least a little bit.

And I haven't checked in a few days but in Erie he had one walk. Just one. I know he's been hitting rather well but his OBP was low.

Okay I checked it, 2 walks in 115 at bats at Erie.

And 7 HR in 350 PA all together. I know he crushed one yesterday but let him develop a bit.

Didn't read any of the thread but a nice showing for Tigers prospects. Good game for Nicky C. I see the 2 posts before me about him and I agree. Don't rush him up. The only spot for him to play often is corner outfield or Dh anyway. He needs time.

This isn't playstation...

You can do this in PlayStation? Would Nick even have a player yet on the PlayStation system? :)

I know he is to Young but if they are going to keep him and not trade him the Tigers have to have a plan for him.. He is blocked at third by Miguel...He has played all 27 games at third in Erie.. I guess it is a nice chip to have in your system.. Glad he got the MVP!!!

Pleeeenty of time for plans. Lol Eventually they'll decide if he's a corner outfielder or if he's a trade piece. My guess at this point they just want him to be as comfortable as possible, grow physically and mentally while moving through the ranks. Sometimes it's better to dominate a lower level than be mediocre at a higher level. Don't wanna shatter confidence before its even obtained.

As far as Miguel..he's either 1st/3rd/or DH...don't give us a reason to complain about him.

I don't believe he projects to be an MLB 3rd baseman anyways Bob.

Most scouts think he will wind up in Left Field, but either way his path is not blocked, they'll find somewhere to put him, but not for a couple seasons, maybe mid-2013 at earliest.

I would love to see him in LF next season.

Pre games in Erie he is just shagging flys, very little in the way of setting his feet or reading the flight of ball, just playing some catch to 'start' him 'getting used to it' for some future plans. that is, next ST and regular year, hopefully at AA and AAA, with maybe a Sept. 2013 callup.
Still learning pitch recognition and discipline. For instance, most all of us here haven't seen him play before yesterdays Futures Game. First at bat chased/swung at a low slider, and as noted, certainly could use some walks better eye at the plate.

I guess I am just excited to see a promising Tiger prospect other than a pitcher.
