The Detroit Tigers have now played 11 games in the 2025 season. They stand at 7 wins and 4 losses.
They started against the World Champion LA Dodgers and were swept. Then the 2024 AL West 2nd place Seattle Mariners, winning 2 out of 3. They swept MLB’s worst team, the Chicago White Sox and have won both games so far against the defending AL Champions NY Yankees.
This Tigers team made no huge acquisitions beyond Jack Flaherty and Gleyber Torres over the winter. And since before the first game of this season, they are missing a number of key players to injury.
It’s still too early to say just how good this team may or may not be. But what are your first impressions so far?
As you evaluate, just don’t go by the number of wins. Consider the pitching, defense and offense in your overall assessment. You may also compare last year’s play with the performance levels seen so far this year.
What is your first impression of the Tigers' performance so far?
1. Playing worse than I expected.
2. Playing exactly as I expected.
3. Playing better than I expected.

I know it's early, but If you told me 2 years ago that Mize would be the best pitcher, and Tork the best hitter on the team, I would have almost expected it. Fast forward to this off season, and if you told me that Tork and Mize didn't make the team, I wouldn't have been shocked. If these two continue to be really good (Mize can't keep up his pace), this team has a chance to be special.
