Game 120 Tigers vs. mariners August 13, 2024

Modest 2 game streak.
57-63. 8 games back in the wildcard race. 42 games left. If we go 29-13 will that be enough ? 86-76 ! Dare to dream. Starving for playoff baseball again.

Get Mize back and he is lights out. Call up Jobe (After the date ) So he can’t lose his rookie status. Call up Spencer and platoon him with Madris. (Probably dumb) Greene comes back and mashes ! Sweeney for JB.
I think you can add 3 players soon. Who ?

After tonight’s start, here is where Tarik Skubal sits among all MLB pitchers.
Wins: 14 (1st)
Ks: 180 (2nd, 1 behind Cease for the lead)
ERA: 2.53 (1st)
WHIP: 0.92 (2nd)
BAA: .198 (8th)
He better win the Cy young.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.
Totally Tigers

Earlier this year, CF'er Parker Meadows was sent back down to Toledo after struggling mightily at the plate. He was hitting under .100.
While in Toledo, he made some changes and hit .292/.388/.495/.883. Despite playing only 51 games there, he was near the top of a number of offensive categories with players who had more games under their belts.
Since returning to Detroit, he has had 1 or more hits in over 5 straight games, hitting for power and stealing bases.

Defensively, he has remained elite, ranking #3 on the roster in DRS. Last week, during a game with Seattle, he saved the win by leaping high in the air to bring down a ball destined for HR territory.

Has Meadows solved his hitting woes enough to become a permanent fixture on this team? Have the Tigers finally found a solid CFer who is likely to be named part of the team’s core and foundation?
Is Parker the Tigers’ heir apparent to CF?

Have the Tigers found one of their core players in Parker Meadows?

1. Yes.

2. Too soon to tell.

3. No.

Definitely way too soon to tell. He had success in only 51 games in AAA. Now he has "figured it out"? To be honest, I would be shocked if he is ever anything more than a below average offensive player but sticks because he is a great defender.

This game marks the first time that the Tigers have scored 11+ runs in a game's first four innings since July 8, 2014 vs. Los Angeles (NL).

Jake Rogers drove in six of those runs. The last Major League player to have more RBI in the first four innings of a game: C.J. Cron with seven on August 8, 2021 (COL vs. MIA).

Ty Maddon was supposed to be one of those pitchers to "watch" for the future. He has an 8.40 ERA for the Mud Hens this year.
