Game 125 Tigers vs. astros August 21, 2019

Best game I have seen the Tigers win since the game vs JV @ CoPa.

Well.

A particular board poster, more of a Michigan poster, was in attendance at this game in Houston tonight.

Said he walked out of the stadium with a smile on his face.

I actually met up with him in Chicago about a half a decade or so ago and watched the Tigers play the White Sox at the new White Sox Park.

The Tigers did win that at night and qualified for the playoffs that year.

Verlander was still with the Tigers although I don?t think he got the start that night.

I missed the game, glad they got the win. I still miss Verlander.

According to ESPN, this is the biggest upset in baseball in the last 15 years (link).

according to the infographic in the sidebar, the 2018 win against Verlander in Houston was the 5th biggest... I was at that one too.

Damn.

This is some auspicious shit.

I fully expected to see a line with JV pitching 9 innings & double digit strikeouts but with a W

I see they went with Norris and 3 innings. I am 99% sure they are seeing what he can do as a reliever next year. I think he can probably be a very good reliever.

Good on the Tigers for winning last night. Blots out a lot of anguish.

JV has always seemed to be a pretty level headed guy. My guess is this reporter wrote something derogatory about him or his wife that might not have been true.

Unethical behaviour from Tigers freep writer Anthony Fenech.
I have heard this in the past about fenech.

Bless You Boys Tigers Blog Podcast 55: John Hicks is in Justin Verlander?s head. 93 minutes.
The BYB staff looks at the week in Tigers news and more.

In the wake of the Tigers stunning takedown of the Houston Astros, Ashley McClennan is on the IL, so host Brandon Day flies solo to unpack the rash of injuries, the shutdown of Casey Mize, Isaac Paredes, Travis Demeritte, and much more...

There are three segments to this one, roughly 30 minutes each.
In part one, we?ll look at the Tigers incredible victory over the Astros, and the rash of injuries and shutdowns plaguing the organization.

Part two is a look at the coming roster crunch in pitching at Toledo and Detroit next year, the possibility for some creative usage, and the potential for a deep bullpen in 2020.

In part three, I?ll discuss Travis Demerrite and Joey Wentz and the strong early returns they?ve provided for the Shane Greene trade. And finally, Isaac Paredes isn?t exactly neglected, but he still seems to be flying just a bit under the prospect radar. Tigers fans should be excited for him anyway.
