Nice comeback win from 4-1 down and damage was done by 6-9 hitters. Tork had some great AB’s too. Missed a homer on one of his at bats barely. He was one those two pitches. They were both crushed.

Baez rbi double that scored Sweeney with the tigers 7th run turned out to be the game winner.

No dented plaques this time, but Tork's persistence dents Twins' hopes.

Tigers 7 - Twins 6: Twinshits abound in a back and forth affair.
The unlikely heroes Dingler and McKinstry carried the offense to a comeback win, and the bullpen barely held on.

Colt Keith has started his 2nd year at the MLB level. Originally a 3B'er, he was moved to 2B because of concern over a previous injury to his throwing shoulder. While he had a solid 2024 at the plate, he was horrible defensively, ranking last on the team and also within MLB with a -10 DRS.
The Tigers moved him to 1B this year but an injury to Gleyber Torres at 2B necessitated that he return there at least temporarily. Just within the last series, he committed 3 costly errors. He currently ranks last on the team defensively.
However, Keith is also struggling at the plate this year. Out of all the regular full-time players, he’s got the lowest BA at .171.

Torres has returned. His $15 mill contract guarantees that he will return to 2B. Technically, Keith should move back to 1B, however Spencer Torkelson is crushing the ball and has a better DRS.
Tork lost his position to Keith over the winter however situations have changed dramatically since then.

Of note is Colt’s contract which goes for 5 more years for a total of $18 mill and 3 years beyond that of a team option.

What should the Tigers do with him?
What should the Tigers do about Colt Keith?

1. Put him back at 1B. He needs to learn the position.

2. Send him to Toledo for a reboot. Put Torkelson back at 1B.

I voted to send him down. Sometimes that is all they need to get their head back on straight.

Speaking of Toledo, I went to the game last night. I was explaining to my son and nephew the difference between a prospect and a guy that is playing there that is older and probably never going to make it. I was telling them that Jung and Lee are guys that could be up in Detroit. As I am explaining it, Jung hits a 420 foot bullet of a HR right over the CF wall. I said, "see, this guy is a little different". BTW, he is hitting .325, 3 HR, and 1.135 OPS.

The problem for him is that detroits current platoon at 3rd(Baez, McKinstry and Ibanez) are hitting well and all 3 seem like better defenders than him. At some point the organization needs to try Keith/Jung at corner outfield if they wanna get them consistent at bats with detroit. Especially with Lee right behind them.

Our Tigers have so many interchangeable parts that are good in some aspects, of hitting or defense, and some lacking one or the other. Who they have now might not be in Detroit in July August and September either in the minors, traded, or dfa'ed.
I get what Hinch is doing with the platoons of players and at different positions vs. different teams, pitchers, and other ballparks. I just hope that one year they will have some players who are starters and can play 80 percent of the time at a position they can also field with positive defensive numbers.
