Game #147 Colorado @ Detroit, September 12th. 2024 1:10pm

Skubal struggling a tad.
Solo homer down 1-0. In third.
Two singles in the 4th. But now
Two outs. In 4th. Radio said
Skubal seemed frustrated double play wasn't turned.

Skubal strands 2 ! 4th k!

Tigers only 1 hit so far.

Great at bat by Spencer!
Dirks gushing about that ab.

Oh my ! Nice catch. Radio.
Dickerson said he was above the fence.

Besides the central, the tigers have the best record in the AL, of teams that arent leading their division(oh yeah, and the orioles)

All the divisions fell off this year except the central.

The Tigers are 20-8 since August 11, which is the best record in MLB during that span and is Detroit's best record in any 28-game span since also going 20-8 from April 19-May 20, 2014. Over that stretch, Detroit's pitching staff has posted a Major League leading 2.46 ERA, while the Tigers offense is averaging 5.0 runs per game, which leads the American League and ranks fifth in the Majors.

The Tigers have announced the following roster moves.*
Optioned INF Ryan Kreidler to Triple A Toledo.
Reinstated OF Wenceel Perez from the 10-day injured list.

Unlikely Tigers run sparked by brilliant pitching management.
The Tigers lost Reese Olson, Casey Mize, and then Jack Flaherty and out pitched the whole league anyway.

Biggest deficit Tigers have ever overcome in September to make the playoffs.

Shoot. 1-2 count double off on Hanifee. Runner should have scored on that single. Bad base running.
Now runners on 2nd and 3rd. Dang.

84 pitches, he had another inning.
Was there a comebacker to Skubal and he fielded it barehanded? He might be getting an x-ray for that.

Tigers have lost back to back skubal starts against the A's and Rockies. Baseball is a strange game.

Skubal shoves once again, but Tigers can't capitalize in AL WC race.

Tigers 2 - Rockies 4: Tigers got Rock’d.
Not an ideal end to the series, and a nice Skubal start squandered.

Rockies rally late to snap Tigers' win streak, avoid sweep.

Detroit Tigers give up two runs in ninth inning in 4-2 loss to Colorado Rockies.
Freep

Tarik Skubal, the frontrunner to win the American League Cy Young Award, allowed one run on four hits and zero walks with six strikeouts across six innings, throwing 84 pitches. A comebacker hit his non-throwing right hand in the sixth, but he finished the inning.

Skubal took a comebacker — 71 mph exit velocity — off his right hand, just below the base of his glove. He bobbled the ball and made an athletic catch with his left hand, but after the play, he dropped his glove to the mound and shook his right hand in pain.

Jason Foley hadn't allowed an earned run since the end of July. His streak of 18 games and 16 innings ended with two earned runs in the ninth inning of Thursday's series finale against the Colorado Rockies at Comerica Park. Shit happens.

Rockies rally in 9th to snap Tigers’ win streak, spoil sweep.
