Game #151 Detroit @ Kansas City, Monday, September 16th, 2024 7:40 Pm

None of us in our wildest dreams would have thought at the beginning of the year if Detroit was running Skubal, 30 percent of Mize, Keider Montero, a few starts from Reese Olson and multiple multiple reliever games headed by the likes of Brant Hurter and Ty Madden would we then also have the best record in the AL in the last 40 percent of the season.

AJ absolutely deserves credit.
that's fine. Then you have to give him the blame for not winning more games in the middle of the year. Personally, I don't think he has too much to do with it. I think it's the players just playing better and the schedule being really easy to end the year. I posted about 4 weeks ago that I was listening to MLB radio and the host said he thought that the Tigers would make a push for the wildcard. His reasoning was that they had one of the easiest schedules to finish the season in all of baseball.

Then by contrast they played one of the hardest while they were hit hardest on the offensive side of the plate with injuries and prior to the injection of life from these youngsters.

It's okay to enjoy a season man i promise.

Tom is right though.. Why does he get credit here but no blame in the early parts of the season. Players do well, it's AJ - player stinks its the players? How does that work. Shouldn't the pitchers get the credit? Why give it to AJ because we're short staffed, what did he do?

I am enjoying the season. I'm enjoying the players playing better. I'm not watching the manager and giving him flowers for the players playing well.

This is the exact mentality that netted us Brad Ausmus and AA.

AA was a GM. Ausmus & Hinch, I don't see a difference. You just can't say its the players when they suck but when they're good its the manager. Makes 0 sense.

I didn't say that. I am saying given the obstacles he's done a great job.

Brad Ausmus had 4 CY Young winners in his rotation and couldn't win one game against Baltimore. Do managers make that big of a deal? Not necessarily but when you're managing a pieced together pitching staff as well as he has the last 60 games he deserves some props.

Comparing this team to the 2014 Tigers is like comparing a Porsche to a Toyota Camry.

And the point was i was a minority who wanted to keep DD. Obviously with Chris DD doesnt work though.

In the midst of this huge turnaround and you all acting like it's absurd to give the manager a little credit.

This board is fucking strange sometimes man.

Maybe the players deserve it. Its just that AJ has some PH and the guy k's, stupid player but he succeeds great job by AJ.

The stats show the Tigers are 25th in average but 7th in RISP and 3rd in runners left in scoring position. So you're wrong. The stats speak to that.

The players of course deserve credit. I've yet to argue otherwise.

Just my opinion is AJ should be fire. Sub .500 for near 4 seasons. 40 games shouldn't change that. If Javy wasn't hurt AJ would still put him in the lineup. One example.

There are non Tiger publications considering him for manager of the year lol.

Until Sweeney got hot what did he really have at short? Mckinstry? Kreidler is worse than Baez. All the long term options are over a year away. Harris needs to cut bait and make a decision there.

My bigger issue early on and still to a degree is the development of the hitters, and while Hinch has a hand in that I see that as a deficit in his hitting staff. That said, given they are trotting out a lineup of almost entirely 3 year or less players the results are reasonable the last 60 days.

I think we are all disappointed in Tork and want to blame others but the guy can't hit a fastball. That's a Tork issue. If we slide 2nd half 2023 Tork into this lineup that would be huge.

I will give AJ a little credit, but most of the credit goes to the players who are finally performing.

Wouldn't disagree with that take

Absolutely disagree with firing him and its a laughably bad take.

This is fire Leyland and DD to get Ausmus and AA bad.
