Last call, Kitties!!

banuelos remains in to close.

Stewie grounds to second.

Jeimer grounds to third.

Mercer singles to left.

RonRod flys to center.

Kittens lose their 4th straight 10-1, are now @ 45-108, and move closer to the '03 Tigers -337 Rdiff @ -315. Zimmerbummer takes the loss and is 1-12 on the season.

Speaks volumes when the most exciting event taking place @ CoPa on homegame Friday nights this season, has all too very often been the postgame fireworks show for those in attendance.

White Sox thrash Jordan Zimmermann as Tigers lose 10-1.
Mlive

Zimmermann is the second Tigers pitcher since the Great Depression to allow 11 hits and 9 runs without getting out of the fourth. Brian Moehler did it in 2000.
No Tiger since at least 1908 has won less than two games in a season with at least 20 starts, according to Baseball Reference.
Jordan Zimmermann, currently 1-11, will have one more start after tonight.

Not one post on last night's BYB game thread commented on the game play by play itself. No reaction whatsoever when Zimmersucksass gave up that grande salami...lolz!!

That is more typical of the Motown Sports Detroit Tigers' forum gameday threads which oft-times waxes and wanes mainly with completely off-topic and/or philosophical PoVs from each members's allegedly superior baseball IQ. Many who remain now, were among the first to jump off the ESPN Detroit Tigers messageboard bandwagon prior to the '06 season.

Profanity is prohibited on both sites, and while I can understand why the BYB site won't allow it, their being a part of the much larger SB Nation, it makes far less sense on the independent Motown Sports website, which was partly why I never registered as a member.

THE SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Saturday Survey offers another way for readers to weigh in on a relevant topic. So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our baseball-lovin? peeps.

As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons ( 4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!

Given the Tigers? claim to be rebuilding, let?s chart their progress. If we remove all pitchers, as well as Miggy, from consideration, how many players from the current roster do you believe will still be part of the Tigers by April 2021?

Given a full year (2020) to develop, how many of the 8 positions will be filled for the 2021 year?

DET is now 23-75 .235 WPCT since May 31st. Over 162 games, that would be a stellar 38-124. That is epically bad. While most pundits are high on M&M (Mize and Manning), they think the rest of the minor league arms are being 'overrated" by DET. Additionally, they virtually have no position players outside of Parades. Even when other teams (e.g. HOU, CHC, etc) rebuilt, they started with more in the system that what DET has right now. It is estimated it will take 5-10 years to overcome their organizational vacancies, and that assumes strong drafts.

Even if they draft/develop a few quality position players in the next few years, the timing still doesn't favor the Tigers. How far into Mize's career will this team finally have a viable offense? I don't see everything clicking without a Cabrera-type trade (or two), which is extremely unlikely...and this isn't exactly a hotspot for free agents, especially with an owner that doesn't want to spend. It's disheartening knowing this team probably won't be watchable for the next decade, though they only have themselves to blame.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK.
Totally Tigers

It?s time again to hear from our readers! Today is the day to let us know what you?re thinking on a selected topic.

Sunday is the one day of the week where we open up the comment parameters for you, so you can get those juices flowing.
Comments on THIS DAY ONLY can be expanded to a maximum of 8 sentences.
We can?t wait to get your thoughts on the following topic:

Next season, in the final year of his contract, Jordan Zimmermann will make another $25M. If he were removed from the rotation based on his awful 2019 season, the Tigers would have another hole to fill.
Based on all the factors and given the difficulty they had effectively filling holes left by Michael Fulmer, Tyson Ross and Matt Moore this season, how would you choose to use Zimmermann in 2020?

Can Zimmerman or at least add him to the pen. I don't care how much he's making.

at this point, I hope he starts for the Tigers next year. As much as I would love for them to be competitive next year, it just isn't going to happen. I see another 110+ loss season and another #1 pick. Maybe another 115 loss season would be enough to get Al out of here (I doubt it).

2021 is the EARLIEST this team will even sniff .500 ball, and that's being VERY optimistic.

2024 is the earliest. There is no way they make it by 2021. There is too many holes in the offense/position players without qualified personnel in the system and reluctance to spend on mediocre Free Agents of any value.

I agree that it is unlikely that they get to .500 by 2021...but it's not impossible.
