Any other QBs that rank close to Lawrence? I would be thrilled to get a guy who can throw and also run.

Fields. There's a pretty solid chance he'll be there when the Lions pick, assuming they are picking in the top 5-8. And to be honest, he has (IMO) just as much upside as Lawrence.

Agreed....but I think the mistake some NFL teams make is that they get guys that are runners that can throw. I'd only take a guy that was a passer that can run.

Lawrence fits that. Lamar Jackson fits that. Kyler Murray fits that.

Justin Fields is the next highest rated QB. To me, he is a runner that can throw. I might change my mind this fall after I watch a couple Ohio State games though.

Tray Lance from NDSU is an interesting prospect, as is Trask from Florida.

We can ignore the QB position and grab best defensive player or offensive lineman available. Build a team that a rookie QB can eventually contend with.

I just want to have a good draft. Thats it. Have a draft where our high first rounder is a difference maker at WHATEVER position it is. OL, DL, LB, DB.....don't care.

A draft where our 2nd round pick is a good NFL starter. A guy like Slay or Hockenson.

A draft where our 3rd rounder becomes a solid starter or a high end specialist. Cliff Avril comes to mind. Or maybe a 4.3 WR that can stretch the field....or a good 2 down MLB that is a tackling machine on run plays.

But we NEVER have that. We're lucky if one of our first 3 rounders becomes solid. One typically isn't even good enough to stick in the NFL and one is out of the league in 3 years because of injuries.

I agree we never get enough out of our drafts. It seems Quin is focused more on building his team around over priced patriot Free agents rather than building through the draft. Which could be the worst GM plan of all time?

I think Hockenson would be GREAT on any other team. We simply dont use him enough. Hes ALWAYS wide open.

I think Swift should be the lead back...but he rides the pine. I think Kerryon was a dumb pick. J Jackson off to a decent start.

Okwara doesnt see the field. Davis sucks. Tavaii is brutal. Okudah...he was put in a bad spot but the bottom line is he's not performing that well. Had a horrible game this week with 1 GREAT play.

Ragnow and Golladay are the only draft picks that have developed into consistent quality starters?...maybe Decker? Is that it??!!!...thats awful.

Over the past 11 drafts they have spent 4 first and 4 second round picks on TEs (3) and RBs(5). Not a single one has been any good.

I’ll second that, the play calling is so gutless. Paddy and OC coach afraid not nearly aggressive enough. Still waiting for a coaching regime in Detroit that understands their is NOTHING to lose here!

Talk about bad pass defense Seattle set a record most passing yards given up through 3 weeks - over 1200 yards. Yet they're 3-0. That's what a good QB can do. Wilson is just killing it.

Brian Griese wasn't much better than Batch. Both were mediocre

This is an organization that drafted Lynn Boden in Round #1 (pick 13) of the 1975 draft, an OG from South Dakota State. He played three seasons in Detroit.

If you are not familiar with these played picked in R1 that same year, and that the Lions passed on, they were all very good.

16. Russ Francis (SB TE for Montana's first)
17. Louis Wright (All 70's HOF team)
20. Doug France
24. Neil Colzie (SB with the Raiders in 1977)
26. Dave Brown (Safety from Michigan)

All these listed players played an minimum of eight seasons. I guess the point is this: "SOL."
