Game 4: Saints @ Lions Thread

Two Prater misses, Swift drop and some red zone issues for FGs instead of TDs. Offense has been good for the most part. Would be 28 PPG real quick at least. We'll see how Bears, Packers and Saints defense shakes out too.

Defense has been bad, long drives not giving offense as many good chances and less time. Do have 4 nice turnovers forced though but need more. Got the job done against Cardinals but needed 2-3 more plays on 3rd down in Packers/Saints game. Bears such a debacle come back allowed but good 1st 3 Quarters.

I don't know how you think the offense is good. You are coming up with some hypothetical scenarios that will boost the PPG but they are still towards the bottom in all yards per game averages as well.

They are scoring points. Moving the ball well too. Dealt with big injuries too Golladay, Dahl and Vaitai. Defense needs to get stops so Lions get better field position and have more time. And again, let's see if we faced good defenses so far or bad ones too.

We could drop 40 on the Jags and Falcons each and change those averages real quick.

Offense is good, ST is good, defense is bad. 2 more stops a game would do wonder. Got to get off the field in 3rd downs. Okwara finish that sack on 3rd and long, Okudah breaks up that last Brees pass. One more sack or run fit a game. Got to make it happen. Figure out the pressure or they are toast. Someone has to step up and rush the passer.

you are right about the averages going up with good performances and they have the teams on the upcoming schedule that are pretty bad.

This team is still bad. Fortunately for you they have a very easy remaining schedule. They should still be able to get to around .500 which certainly won't help them in the long term. They would be better off going 3-13 so they can have an opportunity to draft an impact player and so they can fire the coach and GM.

Talent wins out. We don't have enough of it. That's on Quinn. The talent we do have are under-preforming, that's on Patty and his coaches.

And the offense is underperforming...thats on stafford and the rookie decisions hes making. Actually, rookies are playing better.

This is a great way to put it. We clearly don't have enough of it.....and the talent we do have isn't producing like it should.....that's because our coaches don't put them in positions to win.

CB's have to regularly cover for 5+ seconds. LB's outside of Collins are absolutely invisible. DL is a disgrace.

OL is average at best. Saints got a TON of push up the middle. RB's are led by a 35 year old that clearly outperforms two top 2nd round picks.

Stafford has not been nearly as good this year as last. Maybe that's a training camp issue. Maybe not. WR simply don't create enough separation. Saints just lined up in m2m in 3rd down situations, WITHOUT THEIR TOP TWO CORNERS, and beat our guys. We aren't going long like we did last year.

Blah blah blah........fire the fat fuck!!!

haven't really cared to post in a while, but figured i'd add my $.02

1-3 headed into the bye. Fire the coach and start the rebuild process.
no, we don't want to fire the coach right now. that would be a horrible decision. the last thing we want is something like that to rally the troops to meaningless wins. with a coach/team this bad, we're sure to stay in the running for Trevor.

as for this...
206 yards passing :lmao:
who tf cares how many yards he threw for? Dak went for over 500 yards in their loss because Dallas might be the one defense worse than ours? i get laughing at this team, as it's hard not to, but at least have a little common sense when you do. this statement is just plain asinine.

The Saints were down their top 2 CBs and the Lions / Matt only threw for 206 yards? You don't think that was a problem when they were down for over a 1/2 of the game, the opponent was without their top two CB's, and they actually lost the game?

keep your $0.02 because you are about as dopey as LKP.

you can't honestly be this dense, can you? Stafford didn't have a good game, i think we can all agree on that, but it's not like he had such a clean pocket with no pressure that it could actually be Stafford vs. the DBs. you're completely dismissing the Saints D-line absolutely abusing our O-line, which actually has more to do with the 206 yards than Staff's typical inaccuracy. the Saints could be playing all practice squad guys in the secondary and Stafford would have still been running for his life.

please don't ever compare me to the clinically psychotic LKP just because i point out your inability to understand how pressure from the D-line works to affect a DB's ability to cover.

As we deliberate over the minutia of passing yards, pass rush effectiveness and depleted secondaries, I am retaining the bigger picture that this organization has been set up to fail for 56 seasons now. This team will not make the playoffs, and the streak of NO SUPER BOWL APPEARANCES continues, indefinitely.

Agree 100%. Saints Dline and front 7 overall played really well. The Saints also have good safeties and nickel healthy to take away things. And Robinson and PJ Williams are not bad players. Saints pretty deep at CB.

Also time of possession. Saints like 5 long drives. 36 minutes of possession to Detroits 24. This on Detroits defense here. Less time to accumulate yards then. Also the one short field after the Brees pick. Lions get a TD good but no yards on that drive.

63 seasons.

Lions face 3 top 10 PPG defense (Bears, Colts and Bucs), 3 middle tier (Titans, Packers and Panthers) and 6 bad defenses (Jags, Washington, Falcons, Vikings twice, Houston) (28 PPG or more) in final 12. Detroit offense can take a big step here

Defense
Plays 2 top 10 offenses (Bucs/Packers), 5 middle TIER (Falcons, Vikings twice, Titans and Colts and 5 bad offenses (Bears, Washington, Carolina, Houston and Jags)

Defense will need to step up and take care of teams they should

in those 12 games, the opponents get to face a middle tier offense (24.8 PPG) 12 times and a bottom tier defense (31.8 PPG) 12 times

Detroit played 3 good offenses so far though. We'll see what changes for every team

Time to win or Patricia and Quinn will be gone

question for you...do you want them gone or do you think they have done a good job and deserve to keep their jobs?

206 yards + all the wide open deep throws stafford missed. Justin Hebert would have gone over 350 and won the game. Plus next year we would have an additional 22million to help the defense. True 3-1 going into the bye week if the lions GM/Coach werent spineless cowards that actually built this team proeperly.

GB has a legit MVP QB....STILL picked a qb in the 1st round.

Indy got rid of Peyton Manning when it was time....he won countless playoff games.

Tom Brady....GOAT....when its time to move on its time.

We have Matt "Andy Dalton" Stafford who hasnt won shit in 12 YEARS...and we're too afraid to make a change???!!!!????!!!!???

What kind of special dumb fucks run this organization? It makes no sense.

Ill say it again...Stafford should have been fired the second he lost to GBs 3rd string QB for the division.

He's the greatest Lions QB of all time...who gives a fuck and thats truly not saying much. He needs to go....

12 years and dude is still making "rookie" mistakes that rookies nowadays dont even make.

The time to win has passed. This is year 3 together and this team is pathetic. Patricia has not coached up or developed any players for this organization. Dline sucks, LBs suck, secondary underachieves. It?s pathetic.

Here?s a list of high draft picks this coaching staff hasn?t developed. At some point you got to love the Lions enough to want these coaches gone so we can start seeing player improvement.

Hockenson is very talented but doesn?t look like or used like a developed top 10 draft pick.
Okudah is a rookie but needed to make a instant impact. He?s getting torched on the field.
Swift not used.
Kerryon didn?t develop.
Tavai hasn?t developed.
Davis didn?t develop.

The oline has been fine. 12 sacks in 4 games....big deal. And a lot of those are due to stafford holding onto the ball.

Stop looking at just sacks. That is so stupid. Pressure causes incompletions and bad throws too. Plus there is drops and play call factors too. But if you do want to look at sacks. 12 sacks in 4 games over 16 games would be 48 sacks. The most sacked QB in the league last year. Sacked 48 times. Buts cool if you think "only" 12 sacks in 4 games is good

First pick great play by Jackson and crazy high deflection
Second pick bad play call but Stafford bad throw and should have just told Bevell to F off on that out route in your own goalline shadow
Third pick he underthrew Hock on a jump ball scramble on 1st down

He made many other great throws and is playing well overall. Can have some improvement for sure. Line needs to improve, Swift needs to not drop game winning TD pass dimes. Defense needs to improve but they are giving him some short fields last 2 games. WRs need more separation too or more scheming to get open

I saw some bad jump balls from Maholmes yesterday too. JC Jackson should have picked on off for sure. PJ Robinson held onto the one Stafford threw. It happens. it sucks but it happens
