Game 4: Saints @ Lions Thread

Okudah missed key camp time and no real offseason. Supposed to be pro ready slam dunk. Guess not. Don’t know how much hamstring affects his speed too

Hopefully he continues to get better each game

Sigh. Do you really think it a a good idea to blitz drew brees or Aaron rodgers. The answer is no

We blitzed trubisky. Varying success. Got beat some in 4th due to it. Good d rest of game

Murray played more zone, got some pressure and got 3 picks

Sigh. Do you really think it?s a good idea to rush 4, never get pressure, and have them torch us with guys named Valdez-Scantling, Andy Isabella, Anthony Miller and TreQuan Smith?

That?s my point....not blitzing DOESN?T WORK. It doesn?t.

Yes, blitzing might not either, but fuck.....try SOMETHING different. Or, how about every 3rd down our opponents just run simple shallow crossing patterns and we give up an insanely easy catch and run first down. That?s much better.

Blitzing we got torched worse against rodgers and brees. CBs need to stay with their man. Press coverage. And win with 4 man rush. Up to Dline to execute. Good teams don’t have to blitz much

You don’t try something different against brees and rodgers

And run defense was a big issue. That’s why we got killed against packers and saints. Nothing to do with blitzing. Shed blocks and be in correct gap. Be a man and tackle.

259 yards rushing for packers. 161 for saints. Bears nice day running too

not every play, obviously, but you have to shake it up some by blitzing more than once a half

It is. I?m certainly not going to judge Okudah based on 3 games in the worst defensive scheme in the NFL.....but there is no reason the #3 overall pick should be the single lowest rated CB in football. 103rd out of 103.

SMH. It?s sad how bad this franchise is.
to be fair, it's nearly impossible to succeed as a rookie CB when you're left on an island for 20 seconds every snap because of the lack of any pass rush.

Brees gets it out so fast. There is zero reason to blitz him

the NFL's own stats disagree

https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/passing#average-time-to-throw

Stafford - 2.61s TT
Brees - 2.68s TT
Rodgers - 2.72s TT

so how can other teams get to Stafford, who has a quicker time to throw than the HoF'ers you mention, but we can't attempt to blitz Brees or Rogers? oh, that's right, we have a shite defense with a shite coach.

actual numbers don't lie when you don't cherry pick certain very specific things.

That link doesnt go to stats btw..also brees is a notorious quick release and blitz beater. It makes no sense to blitz him. He picks you apart. Any dc would agree. He is one of least blitzed qbs in nfl

Brees fastest time to throw 2019 and many other years

but this isn't 2019 or many other years, is it? got any other BS to spew that don't support the actual stats from the here and now?

EDIT: tried the link i posted from several devices, and several browsers, they all work correctly. maybe you're just scared of facts?

Link goes to game pass not time to throw. Brees gets it out quickly is a fact. He beats blitzes too..another fact. Two reasons not to blitz him. And again..run defense is what cost the lions

Also you are assuming stafford is blitzed too for that pressure

And 2.68 is one of fastest in league. Brees was fastest in 2019. Clearly he gets rid of it quickly is the point..you seem to be the cherry picker here. Or not very intelligent

3rd fastest 2016, 9th fastest 2017, 4th fastest 2018, 2nd fastest 2019. He gets rid of It quickly. It’s a fact. And he beats the blitz

118 rating for brees vs blitz this season. 132 rating against blitz in 2019. 132. Jesus. Sending 4 was the only move to do

https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/splits/_/id/2580/type/nfl/year/2019

All you arm chair dcs out there need to really do your research

How'd that work out.
i'll take 'a perfect 153 passer rating in this exact scenario' for 800 Alex.

what it sounds like LKP is saying is that our D-line sucks and can't generate any pressure just rushing 4, and we can't blitz because our entire defense sucks, but it's only because we played Brees that we gave up touchdowns on 5 consecutive Saints drives. even though that doesn't explain giving up big leads to the Bears and Packers.

seems as though if there's always an excuse for each game why we gave up double-digit leads, maybe, just maybe, the simplest answer is the correct one... our defense is just bad and that's a direct reflection of our fat-tastic coach. all of this, and this clown, LKP, thinks that we're the crazy, ignorant, ones... unbelievably delusional...

Some things do. Some things he can?t control. Inexperience takes time. Injuries suck and they happen and depending on the combo can be worse than some teams. Strength they work on. May not be enough. Speed is a gm problem. Mental maybe it was taught well but they just don?t get it quickly or in heat of moment. No way to know that.

Scoring is up everywhere. Quiet stadiums favor the offense. Some lions are new to system and learning new positions.

Let?s see what happens final 12. They may never get it right. We shall see. And nobody fucking cares if you called it that they suck. They just happened to not execute you aren?t some football guru because you piled on to some losses. Losses for various reasons by the way

Scoring is up everywhere... except for the lions. As soon as i realized quin was not going to address the pass rush yet again i said we would have to score 30 a game just to have a chance. I need to move that up to 35. Fucking defensive genius

I was pretty warm On Patty before he was an option. Then the SB came and he got drilled by the Eagles. I cooled off at that point.

The Lions had the correct strategy. They didn't execute it properly. Okwara misses a sack on 3rd and long, someone blows an assignment, Trufant on a bad hamstrnig can't run with the speedy Smith. Execution not strategy was the problem. And run defense was a mess. We lost due to that. Gave them some yards too with penalties. Flowers low hit and Amendola personal foul.

Lions can make plenty of stops in these next 8 games and right the ship.

Do the Detroit Lions have a chance win the Super Bowl this season? Or even make the playoffs? Yes or No? I say “no.”

Season Over. Before it started.

LOL.....it was the ONLY move to do. Pay no attention that they were without the leagues best WR.....you can't blitz Drew Brees, otherwise he's likely to complete over 70% of his passes.

LKP is Matt Patricia! How the fuck is it the ONLY move?
